There is an earthquake across the street as Amar informs Cooper that Red is back in New York City. Dembe Zuma is examining documents about Marvin Fisher’s employment and his passing at an FBI facility in Washington. D.C. Cooper informs Zuma over the phone that Red has been located.
Outside of a 12-step session, Diego (Diego) and Zuma cross paths. They board a plane for NYC together. Unofficially, the working group is back together. When Ressler and Zuma get to the blast site, they are informed that it is an extension of the Chinese embassy and that they are not permitted to enter.
According to the fire department, Ressler and Zuma entered despite Chin Yao (Grant), a representative of the Chinese government, trying to stop them since a woman was enclosed during the explosion. Despite Chin Yao’s protests and threats to file a lawsuit, they confiscated the computer that was found with her.
Chin Yao then intercepted the FBI after a call from Wujing. Red, according to Wujing, is to blame for the explosion. Cooper is waiting as Zuma and Ressler bring the laptop to the task force command post, which is now operational.
They need help locating someone who can access the burned and damaged laptop without the help of the local computer specialist, Amar. Then Tadeshi, Red’s go-to computer whiz, is brought in by Zuma. Tadeshi begins working while Cooper appears in court to defend himself against Chin Yao, who has submitted an emergency petition to prevent the FBI from obtaining the laptop.
Before Cooper calls to say they lost the petition and the work must cease, he can rescue three files. According to court records, the woman was identified as Jennifer Ann Moores, a former blacklister imprisoned for theft who received a reduced sentence for cooperating with the blocklist task force.
She was planning a heist on Luxe Global, a corporation that ships and stores valuable art, when she was murdered in the explosion. She has her sights set on something known as The Night Owl. To discuss The Night Owl with Luxe International’s personnel, Ressler and Zuma travel to the Caribbean, where Luxe Global has a location.
As they arrive, Siya Malik and Richard Deever welcome them and thank them for the data, but they are hesitant to offer them anything else. Malik proposes they use a phone call to acquire access from someone beyond their pay grade, which is effective.
The Night Owl is a person who was brought to the VIP site for questioning, not a phenomenon, according to Malik. Luxe International serves as a cover for a secret multi-agency facility where law enforcement worldwide can collaborate to solve complex crimes.
Alban Veseli, a prisoner, is a former member of the Blacklist. He is additionally referred to as “The Freelancer.” Ressler and Zuma learn through Malik that they haven’t been able to extract much information from Veseli.
He is being questioned about the gas pipeline accident that resulted in the death of a lawmaker.
