Why was Scorpion canceled? The CBS series Scorpion revolved around the genius, yet eccentric-natured Walter O’Brien and his team of intelligent misfits at Homeland Security think as they work around while battling against complex, high-tech threats of the modern age.
The drama series had an amazing cast ensemble starring Eddie Kaye Thomas, Jadyn Wong, Ari Stidham, Elyes Gabel, Robert Patrick, Katharine McPhee, and Riley B. Smith. Scorpion has been executive produced by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, creator Nick Santora, and Justin Lin, along with others. While the show started off with a huge viewership, it seems like something led to the sudden cancellation of the show after four back-to-back seasons. Let us find out why Scorpion was canceled.
Why was Scorpion canceled?
While Scorpion initially rose to considerable success with a good fan base that rooted for the series, the viewership of the show considerably declined with time, and by the time the show had its season 4 finale, CBS made a shocking revelation about Scorpion being one of the least watched CBS shows during the year 2017-2018 TV season.
However, the eventual decline in viewership had nothing to do with the quality of Scorpion but had something to do with the network giants’ ongoing issues as they struggled to make viewers watch their lineup of scripted fare on Mondays. While fans mourned the show’s cancellations, cast members also reacted to the show being canceled.

Katherine McPhee later made it big in Broadway musical. After making her Broadway debut, she left the breakthrough role to focus on other projects for a while. Still, later she returned for her hit musical’s final run of shows while taking the stage as Jenna once again for the final time back in January 2020.
Since her days on the CBS show, she went on to play the role of Shelly in Bayou Caviar and later starred in films like The Tiger Rising and Intensive Care. Later she bagged the role of aspiring country singer Bailey, who is the star of the television series Country Comfort.
Co-star Robert Patrick also took to Twitter and thanked fans and the network while calling it a hell of a ride and how it was a great story to tell. The cast implied that the show’s fate was somewhat sealed, although fans even tried to renew the show.
Scorpion Creator Nick Santora Talks About the Show!
Scorpion creator Nick Santora earlier opened up regarding the development of the CBS drama, while saying how Scott and Danny got to know Walter O’Brien and felt Walter’s story could make a good show. The duo later brought it to Fast & Furious director Justin Lin’s company to see if he would be interested in directing it as a series that was envisioned.
The series creator later explained how Scorpion was different from other stuff he has written while referring to Prison Break’s main protagonist who was Michael Scofield, played by actor Wentworth Miller, and how that character was also a successful, eccentric genius, so he had some experience writing for a very high IQ character. While talking about Scorpion’s protagonist, Mike explained how Walter O’Brien is so helpful with ensuring things are accurate that he takes a lot of the pressure off him!
