10 Cloverfield Lane Ending Explained
The plot begins in a scene where Michelle is in a heated argument with her boyfriend, Ben. She packs her suitcase and leaves the location. While moving away, she forgets her diamond ring at the location and, in a hurry, leaves New Orleans. While talking on the phone with Ben, where he is literally begging Michelle to return, something gets off, and her car is suddenly flipped in the air.
Michelle, after the accident, wakes up in an abandoned bunker where her leg hurts. She is chained to the wall. Howard rushes to her aid and explains everything to her. Michelle does not believe a word that Howard is saying. He explains to her that there has been an attack on the above surface maybe by Martians or Russians. The whole air is polluted, and everyone is dead. He saved Michelle’s life after finding her in a ruined car and brought her down to the bunker. They are required to live here for at least 1 or 2 years before the situation settles down.
Hereby, we see that Howard gives a tour of the bunker to Michelle. It is stocked with food and water and everything they would need. A third man named Emmett is also living in the bunker. When Howard tries to prove to Michelle his story, she sees two dead decaying pigs through his viewport. Other than that, she also sees a truck. Soon, Michelle recalls that this was the same truck that forced her car to crash.
Did Michelle Escape From The Bunker?
Soon, a quarrel breaks down between the three when Emmett and Michelle try to escape. Emmett takes the entire blame upon himself. Although, Howard shoots him in the head and says that if Michelle tries to escape, he will throw a barrel of acid at her. Given the fact that Michelle already has doubts about whatever Howard did with his daughter, she builds a suit that will help her outside and protect her from the polluted air. When she tries to run away, a fire breaks out inside the bunker, and Howard is killed in it.
There is a spaceship over Michelle’s head now, which seems rather dangerous. As she tries to escape in Howard’s truck and barely manages to defeat the ship, a strike of lightning appears, and we can see a much bigger ship behind her truck. This means that Howard was true, and there surely is some sort of attack on mankind.
