They are a couple and try to live a normal life. But the thing is that Luiza had an accident that wiped her memory, and she can’t remember a thing. So, she must rely on Valentina to rebuild her memories, and that kind of emotional reliance results in an interesting set of power dynamics between the two.
While Luiza tries to remember everything she can, Valentina often plays the cards in her way, and though her feelings for Luiza are genuine, sometimes things, like physical memories, traumas, and past recollections, get in the way. Not only do we get to see how these two interact, but we also see some themes of interpersonal relationships, coping with trauma, and emotional maturity. The third episode of this series, titled “Revelations,” gave us a lot of heartwarming moments as well as some heartbreaking ones. First, Luiza was coming to terms with her amnesia and how it was very painful for her to comprehend the loss of the baby, that is, without a shadow of a doubt, a very traumatic moment. But what about Valentina’s emotional connection to Luiza?
After all, she’s been handling the relationship, and her dominance over Luiza is always in her favor. And despite the therapy and the moments with other people, it’s evident that she’s on top. But that doesn’t make her necessarily evil; she just lacks the emotional maturity to handle that kind of pressure.
Then, we move to how Valentina accounts for how she and Luiza relate in the past and how she is using those memories to help Luiza in rebuilding the recollection of events. It’s in the heartwarming moments that we see that Valentina isn’t that bad.
We see the two of them play, they have fun together, and they have a connection. But then, Luiza finds a very troubling letter that Valentina penned her before her accident, and all those moments of joy suddenly become blurred as Luiza starts to build her own criteria.
