Although PlayStation is ruling the video game console category, before PlayStation, Nintendo Switch did quite a number of people. The Nintendo Switch is a widely loved console. It is technically the first console to be out on the market. And it did a commendable job of being a first, don’t you think?
Released in 2017, the Switch is a hybrid console. You can play it on your TV or carry it around handy if you like. One of the things we like is that it keeps you from getting addicted to video games. How, you ask? It has a feature that lets you check your playtime. Cool, right?
The Switch currently has 4512 games that you can enjoy anywhere in the world, be it on the flight or at the café. One of which is the Animal Crossing Series. Aired in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the fifth game in the Animal Crossing Series.
In the Animal Crossing game series, you take on the duties of a human being who stays in a small town that is filled with animals that are anthropomorphic. Interesting, isn’t it? You do not really have a storyline in any Animal Crossing games, which gives you the freedom to do whatever you like. We love a good democracy!

Cooking in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
ACNH has a gameplay mechanic wherein you can start cooking various recipes. You can make use of ACNH cooking in multiple ways. You can make meals, desserts, and beverages that help you make an ideal feast for your villager’s dinner, dazzle your buddies, or just relax with a scrumptious meal on a busy day!
Unlocking the Cooking Mechanic
Now to cook, you obviously need the mechanic to be up and working. To do this, you need an upgrade. The upgrade unlocks the cooking mechanic along with additional recipes for you to cook. You can get yours from the Resident’s Services at the Nook Stop. When you redeem nooks, you will be prompted with a pop-up with a list of things. You will want to select Be a Chef! DIY Recipes from the list.
You will need 2000 nook miles for this upgrade at the ABD. There are a few criteria you must meet in order to access the ‘Be a Chef! DIY Recipes’ option. Starting with a refurbishment of the Resident’s Services.
The Resident’s Services needs to be turned into a complete building. Followed by this, you must attend a workshop with Tom Nook on how to DIY Customize. You also need your island to have a 3-star rating. If all these boxes are checked, you can get your hands on the cooking mechanic via Be a Chef! DIY Recipes.
Once you have it working, you will get some recipes to get your hands dirty. Well, you can’t really cook without a stove. But don’t you worry, you get a DIY too on upgrading, which will help you put together your own stove?

Head to Nook’s Cranny. Open the cabinets and look for Basic Cooking Recipes. You will unlock more recipes using this. Make sure you have 4980 bells on hand, though. Without these, you won’t be able to get the recipe pack.
With this pack, you get instructions on making brown sugar and whole wheat flour, both of which serve as crucial elements in so many dishes. Quite handy, isn’t it? Furthermore, you can buy seasonal recipes if there is some season around the corner.
You can get beverages and snacks at the Nook’s Cranny’s shop every now and then. Although purchasing these does not reveal their culinary secrets, they nonetheless appear tempting if you would like to get one for yourself or use them as embellishments.
