Karkanis was brought up in Toronto after being born in Alberta. She has Greek and Egyptian ancestry. She began acting in an episode of 1-800-Missing in 2005, and since then, she has appeared in a number of Canadian television programs in guest-starring, repetitive, and frequent roles. She also frequently voiced characters in Total Drama: Vengeance of the Isle, MetaJets, and Skyland. In Crazy Kratts, she performs the voice of Aviva Corcovado on a routine basis.
