Let’s know the Filming Locations Of X Files. The X-Files was and continues to be a fascinating sci-fi television series packed with monsters, aliens, conspiracies, and dark humor for viewers who adore the inexplicable. The program featured Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, FBI agents, as they investigated bizarre incidents in quest of the truth from 1993 until 2002.
The X Files continues to be popular today and has been deeply ingrained in popular culture. Not only do we remember the remarkable individuals, but also the scenes from some of the most unusual and dramatic events stick with us and occasionally invade our nightmares.
Halfway through the series, the filming moved from Vancouver, British Columbia, to Los Angeles, California, dividing the locations between these two cities over almost ten years.
Sadly, a lot has changed since the start and conclusion of the series. Many of the buildings were destroyed in the intervening years, although not all of them, as is sometimes the case when films are shot in seedy locations to add to the ambiance. You can still find some classic spots that make you nostalgic if you search closely.

Grouse Mountain Skyride – North Vancouver, British Columbia
Do you want to be taken hostage by aliens on a mountaintop? Perhaps spend some time hanging from a cable high above the trees while looking for UFOs? Another possibility is that you simply feel like “ascending to the stars”—or at the very least, Skyland Mountain’s summit.
The Grouse Mountain Skyride, which serves as the real-world counterpart to the fictional Skyland in the “Duane Barry” and “Ascension” episodes of the second season, allows visitors to venture into the woods and board gondolas even today.
Awaiting you at the summit is the Peak Chalet, which can be rented for events like weddings. The breathtaking scenery, ice skating, zip line, and even sleigh rides are further reasons to go, though.
Britannia Mine Museum – Britannia Beach, British Columbia
Smoking Man cleared it out years ago if you’re seeking that specific filing cabinet in an underground mine tunnel with your name and DNA sample on it. The tall stepped building that Mulder attacked at Britannia Beach, however, is still visible.
It was once a piece of the crumbling ruins of Britannia Mining and Smelting Company, but now it is a museum that has been rebuilt. The largest copper mine in the British Empire, when it was first opened in 1900, was shut down in 1974. Construction on Building 3 began in 1923.
Riverview Hospital – Coquitlam, British Columbia
Whether recovering from an injury or having an alien implant removed from your neck, nobody wants to be in the hospital. It’s also difficult to recall a single episode where someone wasn’t in a hospital for some reason, even though they may all appear the same to some individuals.
The Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam served as the backdrop for numerous hospital scenes in the first seasons of The X Files. The original structure at this storied mental health facility, West Lawn, was built in 1913. The Crease Clinic building shut down in 1992, and by 2012, all of the patients had been evicted, leaving the entire complex empty.
Ruskin Dam and Powerhouse – Ruskin, British Columbia
In The X Files, a bridge next to a Ruskin Dam powerhouse serves as a gathering place for individuals to board a flying saucer. Bridges are frequently used as symbols of transition or transformation.
Even though there isn’t a chance of running into gun-wielding alien warriors, British Columbia is home to the actual Ruskin Dam. If you come to work in your pajamas, though, people could stare at you strangely.
Commodore Ballroom – Vancouver, British Columbia
A neurofibromatosis patient wants to rock out to Cher while Mulder and Scully slow dance, so put on your blue suede shoes! Contrary to popular belief, Tracy Bell’s impersonation of Cher in “The Post-Modern Prometheus” wasn’t Cher.
With the “Great Mutato” out of the way, the Commodore Ballroom in downtown Vancouver served as the location for the Cher concert’s finale.
