The first game of Civilization was released in the year 1991, September to be precise, then came out Civilization 2 in February 1996, then came out Civilization 3 in October 2001, and next came Civilization 4 and which was released in June 2006, then came out Civilization 5 which was released in November 2010.
Right now, the latest Civilization game that exists is Civilization 6, which was released in October 2016. If we follow this pattern, then we know for a fact that Civilization 7 is due sometime soon. In no manner has this been announced, but this is said to be speculation considering the pattern from before. Since it has been seven since Civilization, six have been released.
Even after six years, fans of Civilization are looking forward to the release of Civilization 7. If you have not played Civilization 6 yet, then you can get it from the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Store, or Steam if you are playing on PC. Things we know about Civilization 7
It has come to light that the development of the new Civilization game that is going to be called Civilization 7 is under development, and Firaxis Games is going to be taking care of the development. We got to know that this is going to be happening after the event that took place in December 2022 when the launch of Marvel’s Midnight Suns happened.
It was also mentioned that Marvel’s Midnight Sun is going to keep receiving support and updates and have new content for it. The release of Civilization was declared with the announcement of the success of Civilization 6 and how it was released on different platforms such as PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
With the release of Civilization 6 on all the platforms, it is speculated that it will be released for all the PlayStations mentioned above while also being released for the Xbox consoles that are mentioned above. Some do think that there is a chance of Civilization 7 being released for Nintendo Switch too.
It has been officially confirmed that Ed Beach, Civilization 6’s director, is going to continue being the director for Civilization 7 too. This was confirmed by Heather Heaven, who is the head of Firaxis Games. Jake Soloman is leaving the company that led the entire project of XCOM 2 and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
It is said that the storyline of Civilization 7 is going to be based on real-life events that have occurred in the past. This kind of does trouble a few people as too much of an accurate depiction might seem interesting to some, but others might get bored while others might think that if not shown correctly, then the history is being mocked.
Since there are no official releases of trailers or gameplay leaks, it would be best to assume that the game has the same mechanics as its predecessor, Civilization 6. The previous game’s success should be hinting that most of it is similar. If too much of it is changed, then players will not like it very much.
As of now, nothing about Civilization 7 is confirmed, not even the name of the game. There could be a chance that the developers of Civilization 6 decide to go another route and name the game something else other than Civilization 7. It could also end up taking a different approach toward the storyline of the game.
They might even make something like the game Meet Your Maker. A game that requires not only building but also raiding other’s outposts while strategically placing traps in your own outposts so that the enemies die before reaching the heart of your outpost.
Hopefully, Firaxis Games will decide to make the game multiplayer and somewhat of an MMORPG. This would not only spark interest in the younger generations that have not heard of the Civilization Series, and they could get involved and increase the sales of the game. As soon as more information is found out about the game, it will be updated here, but as of now, there seems to be no update except for the fact that the game is in development.
