Showtime’s newest espionage miniseries, Ghosts Of Beirut, has started airing its episodes. Created by Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz, the show revolves around the powerful Middle Eastern terrorist Imad Mughniyeh, who was responsible for the most number of American deaths for a long time until the 9/11 attacks happened.
Airing on television from 19th May 2023, the show has been directed by Greg Barker, who, along with Daniel Dreifuss, is also the executive producer for the series. Asides from being a dramatic thriller, Ghosts of Beirut will also be featuring short clips of the interviews of actual CIA agents who were involved in Mughniyeh’s case. This would add a realistic element to the show, taking the experience of espionage to another level.
Imad was not only a brilliant military tactician but also one that would carry out plans without leaving any traces of himself behind. This gave him the name of “Untraceable ghost” as even after his death, there’s barely any information that anyone could know about him. The series will feature the rise as well as the downfall of Imad, which will begin with the 1983 attacks and end with Imad’s death in Damascus, Syria.
The show stars Dina Shihabi as Lena Asayran, Seabert Henry as Mike, Iddo Goldberg as Teddy, Navid Negahban as Ali Reza Asgari, and Ned Bellamy as William Casey. Hisham Suliman will be portraying the older version of Mughniyeh, while Amir Khoury will be playing his younger self from 1983.

Ghosts Of Beirut: Episode Schedule
The drama series is set to have four episodes for this season. New episodes of Ghosts Of Beirut will be released on Sundays, with each episode having a run time of 50-55 minutes.
Episode 1: Emergence – May 21st, 2023
The premiere episode features the origins of Imad Mughniyeh, the man who sought to change the Middle East forever. Lena Asayran, who had been targeting the CIA for a while, can theorize a connection between the 2007 Iraq attack and Imad. To reveal the works of his past, Lena gets ahold of an Irani defector, who explains the plans of the then 19-year-old Mughniyeh.
Going back to 1983, we see CIA agent Robert Ames trying to stop Israel’s attacks and bring peace to the lands, but Imad has other plans in mind. He uses this as an opportunity to cause Middle East’s first-ever suicide bombing.
Episode 2: Hunted – May 28th, 2023
This episode will feature the rise of Imad, as after being attacked, the CIA hires a new agent, William Buckley, but Imad kidnaps him during the attacks. Before falling into Imad’s trap, William contacts one of his men with the help of Officer Chet Riley, and they finally see the face of the attacker after finding Imad’s photograph.
Now that Buckley was kidnapped, the situation was getting worse for the US as the Marine barracks were also being targeted. With no hope against this new player from the Middle East, the US withdraws its forces from Lebanon.
Episode 3: Damascus – June 4th, 2023
With a time skip of 20 years, we see an older version of Imad still going about his plan to reform the Middle East. He mostly works from the shadows and tries to kidnap US soldiers working in Iraq, but this plan fails. Meir Dagan, who works for Mossad, asks Lena for help in finding Imad’s hideout. With Imad falling for a woman from Damascus and having family problems, this gives the CIA a perfect chance to identify him.
Episode 4: The Finding – June 11th, 2023
The series finale will have Lena and Teddy finally getting ahold of enough evidence about the now-older Mughniyeh. She asks the CIA and Mossad’s group to work together to bring down Imad, but it’s easier said than done. Imad, on the other hand, gears up for a war and asks Iran to help him with chemical weapons. The CIA and Mossad finally come to the same terms after Lena finds out more about Mughniyeh with the help of the Iranian defector.
