What happens if after having a romantic relationship with someone on the online medium, you want to meet for the first time and live together to see where it goes from there, and the meeting keeps getting delayed due to unavoidable circumstances?
Directed by Christine Gernon, the series, titled Gavin And Stacey, follows a similar concept with Gavin and Stacey living with their respective parents at a fair distance from each other. The series focuses on the prime moments between the story leads as Gavin and Stacey become two relatable emotional characters to people in a long-distance relationship.
Created by James Cordon and Ruth Jone, the British comedy series Gavin and Stacey became a fan favorite within a short period due to its relatability and originality. Written by James Cordon, the sitcom stars Mathew Horne playing the role of Gavin Shipman, the enthusiastic protagonist of the series from Billericay, Joanna Page playing the role of Stacey Shipman, the cute female protagonist of the series.
James Cordon plays the role of Neil Smith, Gavin’s best friend, Ruth Jones plays the role of Vanessa, Stacey’s best-friend; Larry Lamb playing the role of Michael Shipman, Gavin’s father who is down to earth and humble in nature; Alison Steadman playing the role of Pamela Shipman, Gavin’s over-protective mother, Rob Brydon playing the role of Brynfor, eccentric and naive brother of Gwen’s brother-in-law, and Melanie Walters playing the role of Gwen West, Stacey’s mother in the lead cast.
Produced by Ted Dowd, the series production was done under Baby Cow Productions in partnership with Tidy Productions for the Christmas Special series. Each episode of Gavin And Stacey ran for 28-63 minutes, depending on the episode.

Gavin And Stacey Premise
The series follows the prime moments in Gavin and Stacey’s life as the two have a long-distance relationship, following which they meet for the first time and have a moment realizing they are made for each other.
The series begins with Gavin, a 28-year-old man living in Billericay, Essex, at his home with his parents, an overprotective mother, Pam and a humble dad Mick. Gavin and his best friend Neil go on a double date with Stacey and her best-friend Vanessa to Central London. Gavin and Stacey end up having sex the very same night of their first date. Similarly, Neil and Vanessa end up sleeping together in their respective hotel rooms.
The difference comes, the following day when Stacey and Gavin are infatuated with each other and begin to fall in love, while Vanessa and Smith decide to forget about their mistake of having a one-night stand. The first season continues to follow Gavin and Stacey and the development of their relationship as they continued to be in a long-distance relationship before getting engaged and tying the knot on 6 April 2007.
The first season ends on a cliffhanger for Vanessa and Smith as the former is pregnant with Smith’s child and decides to keep it a secret from him. The second season of Gavin and Stacey begins with the couple’s return from their lovely honeymoon in Greece and the in-law’s meeting in their house in Essex.
A shocking revelation for Smith is made when he discovers Vanessa is pregnant with his baby, and he is disheartened by this discovery as he loathes Vanessa but remains civil for the betterment of his child. Trouble in paradise occurs for Gavin and Stacey after Stacey fails to find a job and starts getting homesick as she misses he, uncle Barry.
Stacey remains dissatisfied even after the couple tries to find a house in Essex, and she begins to consider the possibility of returning to her home in Wales to live with her mother and uncle Barry. Gavin is upset by Stacey’s decision, but their discussion comes to a halt after Vanessa suddenly goes into labor.
Gavin and Stacey decide to overcome their problems together, thus continuing their relationship. The Christman special of the series follows Gavin, Stacey, and Vanessa with Dave, her partner, on holiday with Gavin’s parents. Pam and Smith become upset with Gavin after he reveals a job offer he received from Cardiff but learn to accept his decision.
As everyone is spending the night at Pam and Mick’s house, it is assumed Vanessa and Smith had a drunken one-night stand. The family is celebrating Christmas in Wales, and Bry cooks for 13 people. Stacy becomes anxious after she and Gavin become parents to three kids as the couple spends Christmas with their family.
The series ends with Vanessa proposing to Neil, thus ending the series on a cliffhanger for the fans.
Gavin And Stacey Filming Locations
1. Wales
Wales is an alluring country located in the United Kingdom bordered by England and the Irish Sea, used by the production crew of Gavin And Stacey to film the sitcom. The entire sitcom is filmed in parts of Wales, with Shipman’s House getting filmed at 17 Laburnum Way, Dinas Powys. The Wests House got filmed at 47 Trinity Street in Barry, and the scene at the Caravan park where Dave lives was filmed at Porthkerry Leisure Park in Porthkerry.
Barry Promenade was used by the crew to film the scenes with Stacy reminding Gavin about their romantic past. Bassett Bar is used to film the scene where the family group gathers on Christmas Eve at the Dolphin Pub. The scene with the christening of Niel is also filmed at this location.
Marco’s Cafe, is used to film the scene with Stacey working at the cafe. Wales Millennium Centre is used to film the scene where Gavin and Stacey return from their honeymoon in Greece.
