It’s been months since we got the cutest LGBTQIA+ show ever. And no, we are definitely not watching it right now as we write this. [Don’t trust us] This couple has invented the most romantic word to ever exist. Because “Hi” certainly never sounded so good before. From the “hi” that could give us butterflies as if we have never fallen in love before to the secret glances and that smiley on Charlie’s hand, this couple was born with the intention to destroy the viewers with their cuteness.
Or should we say, made to stop our hearts? They really took the title literally and made the show that stopped our hearts. If you haven’t already guessed who we are talking about, go watch the series or read the books before you read our article because it’s a crime that you haven’t done already!
And to those who already know the couple, we are sending you a warm hug because we know it’s exhausting waiting for another installment of our favorite series and book series. As a reader who has already read graphic novels and watched the show, we finished it in a day, forgetting about our sleeping schedule, but when you are a reader, who cares about stupid things like sleep, right? So, as a reader who has read and binge-watched the series to the point where we can jump up to defend these characters before defending ourselves, we can say that this series has exceeded our expectations.
A reader’s worst nightmare is seeing the characters they adore being turned into something they absolutely are not. The Hunger Games, we are looking at you. But this series, it was so much better. The show makers knew what they were doing and did it impeccably. From the rainbows and leafs flowing in the air to the characters and vibe of the overall show to Nick yelling that Charlie is his boyfriend to anyone who would hear, it’s hard to ignore its perfection.
Also, can we appreciate the fact that the actors are actually teenagers in a show that’s set in high school? And let’s not forget that they were even seen supporting the LGBTQIA+ community during London Pride Month. Now, that’s the kind of actors we’d love to see in our favorite shows and movies.
But now, let us jump back to the topic of discussion that is- the release of the Heartstopper Volume Five. The last book, Heartstopper Volume Four ended quite differently than we had expected. However, we won’t spoil it for you. We are as eager to read the next volume as you are.
