Peacock has returned with yet another exciting season of Love Island this year. Set to feature new stunning singles and an even more amazing villa; this season is certainly going to live up to Love Island’s legacy in terms of entertainment and drama. Season 5 of Love Island premiered on July 18th, 2023.
First seen back in 2019 on CBS, Love Island is a dating show inspired by its British Counterpart, which has been airing since 2005. Despite the dating and relationship series being abundant, Love Island manages to stand out no matter how absurd the season gets. Each season begins with a group of singles arriving at a villa, where they’ll be staying until they either leave with their “soulmate” or are eliminated.
These islanders live in complete isolation from the outside world and have to form a relationship with one of the housemates if they want to stay in the game and win the ultimate cash prize ($100,000). During their time at the Love Island house, they’ll have to compete in various challenges that test not only their mental strengths but also the strengths of their relationships on the show.
Over the years, Love Island has become a guilty pleasure of many, and although that’s very understandable (the constant dose of drama), the show does get toxic at times, and the relationships that these singles get into often end up on a sad note.
Regardless, it’s the process of trying to stay as a couple to win the cash prize that motivates our contestants. Love triangles, squares, and betrayals are also the main drama providers in this dating show.
Love Island USA Season 5: Filming Locations
The new group of Islanders that have arrived at the Love Island villa are going to be finding love in the place where it all began, Fiji. The first season, which was aired on July 9th, 2019, by CBS, took place in the beautiful land of Fiji. The next few seasons of Love Island took place in Las Vegas, Hawaii, and California, until we returned to the original island this year.
The singles will be staying at this huge villa for almost 32-40 days, where we might see each left-out single being sent back home while new wild entries come in to take up their place. With the number of episodes only increasing each year, we might hit the 40-episode mark for season 5 of Love Island USA.
Fiji:
Despite being featured previously on the show as well, the Fiji we now return to is nothing like the first one. Since this time, Peacock was the one behind the production; the designers knew exactly what we wanted to see in the house and made sure that there was a place for every emotion and vibe in the villa.
The government of Fiji has expressed its appreciation for choosing the beautiful tropical land once again. Coming to what’s new in the house, Richard Jensen, the mastermind behind the work, has done a pretty great job. With 45,000 square feet of land, extra fire pits, and a large hot tub, there are a lot of spots for these singles to get to know each other.
A Sunset Nook was also added to the architecture, which was Sarah Hyland‘s (the show’s current host) favorite place. Every single spot in the house is pleasing to look at, but nothing compares to the Hideaway, which is now covered from walls to the floor in soft faux fur.
This is the coziest this room has ever been, and it’s also supposedly filled with many other surprises that the couples will be coming across themselves. Fiji is no stranger to hosting dating shows, as the bright blue waters and white sand has attracted other shows like Australia’s Next Top Model, Celebrity Love Island, and even Australia’s version of Love Island. To see these singles group in Fiji once again makes the show more exciting.
Sarah Hyland has also revealed that the process of elimination and the addition of new contestants throughout the season will also be different from what we have seen on Love Island so far.
At present, Love Island USA Season 5 is available to watch on ITVX (UK) and Peacock TV (US).
