Over the years, TLC has become the go-to place if you have a soft spot for dating, romance, and relationship shows, as the network has developed a penchant for putting on our small screens all sorts of people seeking romance from all walks of life, big, small, near and far. And in the case of the new series “Match Me Abroad”, the premise sounds simple, three matchmakers from different countries will use their talents and put together seven aspiring American citizens who are tired of seeking a romantic partner on US soil, so they take their quest for finding love abroad.
However, it won’t be as simple as putting the aspiring American on a plane, landing them on foreign soil, and expecting everything to go peachy. No! In this show, the matchmakers have a say; they will evaluate the behavior, past, and present of each participant to better assess their candidate; they’ll consider why previous relationships failed, what aspects of the personality of the candidate are making a dent in their quest for love, they’ll be chaperoning dates, there’ll be simultaneous translation, coaching, and of course, we can’t leave out the fights, the tears laughs and the drama that TLC with its dating shows knows how to deliver. It’s their winning formula.
