High School Musical: Who Played Ryan Evans?
In case you are wondering who played Ryan in the musical comedy High School Musical, then look no further. Lucas Grabeel, an American actor, singer, and songwriter, played Ryan Evans in High School Musical. Ryan Evans, the twin of Sharpay Evans, was co-president of the Drama Club at East High School. Ryan was also one of the main characters in the movie. Born to Vance and Derby Evans, Ryan is eight minutes younger than his twin Sharpay.
In the first movie, High School Musical, Ryan is mostly seen as Sharpay’s sidekick as she plots and schemes. Then in the sequel, High School Musical 2, Ryan opens up and becomes his own person. In High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Ryan performs as a mascot in the basketball championship and then goes on to choreograph the senior year spring musical.
However, his amazing role, which is widely recognized, would have never been possible if it were made today. In an interview, he opened up about being a straight white man and how he has already taken opportunities from various talented actors without even trying. Ryan’s sexuality has been a topic of discussion for years, and the director of the film, Kenny Ortega, has commented saying that making a character gay was a subject that could be touchy since it was meant for children’s programming. Nevertheless, we are grateful to have witnessed Lucas as Ryan Evans.
