Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 6 is set to release on next week. A Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Akihito Tsukushi, Made in Abyss, has been serialized in Takeshobo’s digital magazine Web Comic Gamma since 2012 and published in eleven tank-bon volumes. The story follows an orphan named Riko, who finds and befriends the robot Reg, and takes him deep into the Earth’s core to find her mother.
We see in episode 5, the robot explains to Reg that it is an Interference Unit made to collect data on the Abyss and that Reg while trying to make his way back to the village, gets lost and attacked by monsters. A brief conversation between Riko and Wazukyan, one of the Three Sages, the founders of Iruburu, leads to Reg noticing that they have similarities, but the Interference Unit admits it doesn’t have data on the model. It then guides Reg back to the village known as Iruburu. In an attempt to locate Reg and Nanachi, she searches a cave that the Hollows are too scared to enter outside the village.

Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun Episode 5 Review
It’s clear that Mitty is never going to stop haunting us. He is the main plot driver, and although he doesn’t belong to the main trio, he’s always been one of the show’s biggest plot drivers. The return of Mitty herself was an unexpected surprise after Reg worked so hard and lost so much to ease her suffering and finally put her to rest. Seeing her back go was the kind of episode that drew you in regardless of whether you liked it or not, and where Made in Abyss is concerned, you want to keep watching. On their journey to the sixth floor, the three friends reached very different places and, as fate would have it, met different members of the group we first saw exploring this layer for the first time.
They went in search of the golden city and lost every part of themselves along the way. This is what we’ve learned from the crumbs the show has given us so far, but the story goes much deeper than we realize, literally and figuratively. Thanks to Vueko, we got a glimpse of some of those truths. Her group made it this far down and has no idea what the layers have in store for them. She’s an intriguing character, especially since she was part of the trio searching for the Golden City, and she shares a lot of symbolism with Riko.
We’ve seen what the Abyss is capable of, and they’ve defeated it. They arrived in the golden city, which was all they desired. They have proven to be far more capable than any other adventurer in any world, anime or otherwise. Besides how much the trio is going to lose for moving on from the most dangerous layer yet, the most pressing question in the show is what is going to happen to them after that.
We say it is the most dangerous layer, but it is not because this layer is cursed stronger. Thankfully, the curse hasn’t been encountered here due to the magic of Iruburu, where we are right now. Rather, it’s the unknown, alongside how hostile everything is, despite how straightforward it might seem, that’s frightening. During Made In Abyss Season 2 Episode 5, the main characters continued their tendency to accept non-answers, which leads you to wonder how much they are willing to ignore in order to achieve their goals. Granted, these are emotional teenagers that are unfamiliar with the Abyss itself, but you would think that someone like Reg would be more curious about his origins. We will be astonished when we get the answers, but they are coming slowly but surely.
