The place where your choice of words can either cause you to win or lose the case. Hot Bench is back with another heated case hearing this Tuesday. Hosted by Three experienced judges, the show provides verdicts for cases revolving around everyday life.
Hot Bench was created by a well-known judge, Judge Judy Sheindlin herself. She took inspiration from Ireland’s distinctive system of 3 judges handling a single case. Due to this concept being new to the court show genre, the series ended up becoming one of the most highly watched shows soon.
First introduced on 15th September 2014, the show has since been renewed each year due to its popularity. It now has a total of 9 seasons, of which the latest season began on September 12, 2022. With new 20-minute episodes from Monday to Friday, Hot Bench is the type of show you could enjoy with food and snacks.
Hot Bench Season 9: The Judge Panel
The Judges of this show are all from diverse lives. With Larry Bakman leaving the show before season 3 could start, Hot Bench is now carried out by the three judges, Judge Patricia DiMango, Judge Tanya Acker, and Judge Michael Corriero.
Judge Patricia, a St. Johns University alumni, had graduated with a remarkable grade which along with her street knowledge helped her reach a good position in the world of Law and order. She became the first woman of Italian origin to be a part of New York’s Courts. Her specialty revolved around felonies, murder, and a few high-profile cases that involved crimes against children. This helped her gain recognition which led to her casting as one of the judges for Hot Bench.
Judge Michael is also a St. Johns University of School of Law alumni who worked for NYC’s Juvenile courts. He even has authored a book titled “Judging Children as Children”. Due to his appreciable work, he became an example in cases that had children facing trials as adults.
Judge Tanya Acker, who is also a famous commentator, graduated from Yale Law School and mostly worked on Civil cases. She specialized in fighting for women who were from poor backgrounds. Due to her work toward Humanity, she received many awards and accolades.
Their extensive evidence-based judgements and great chemistry together, led the show’s episodes to have almost 2-3 Million viewers daily.
Hot Bench Season 9 Episode 16: Recap
The 16th episode had aired on October 3rd, 2022. It dealt with the case of Jim Sorkin and Timothy Zelonka. Jim as the plaintiff filed a case against Timothy as due to his decisions, Jim couldn’t complete the work given. This caused him to lose money he was supposed to get from the company he works for.
Timothy fires back, saying that Jim had done poor quality work and nothing improved even after 5 months of hiring him. He shows evidence of Gaps in walls, Empty spaces in places that should have been filled, and poor painting of walls.
Jim expresses the reason for the Gaps as Timothy’s inability to decide where to put the Outlets. He says Timothy had him change a lot of things, even when work was already started and that he didn’t even let him finish the work. The Judges explain that if he had 5 months of time to do it, why didn’t he? The bond company also had a look at the work, and it was their decision based on the quality of work that Jim had done messy work.
The Judges then discuss between themselves and come up with the decision to dismiss both the defendant and the plaintiff as none of them had enough evidence against each other.
