Football is one of the sports that gets love from almost all parts of the world, and following the rise of a football club under the ownership of two Hollywood stars, a series was made in 2022.
Directed by Bryan Rowland, the docu-series chronicles the stewardship and ownership of Wrexham AFC, one of the oldest professional football clubs, by RobMc Elhenney and Ryan Reynolds. Released on August 24, 2022, the series received an overwhelmingly positive response from the viewers.

The docu-series showcases the rise of Wrexham Club in the National League since the takeover by the Hollywood stars. Welcome To Wrexham had one successful season with 18 episodes, and the second season is set to release in 2023. The series was filmed in the United States and the United Kingdom.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds announced their intention to buy the Welsh professional football club association, Wrexham, in 2020. The deal completion between the two Hollywood stars and the football association happened in 2021.
During the time the two Hollywood stars decided to take over the football club, it was struggling to make a place for itself. Inspired by Sunderland Til’I Die, the series was made to show the viewers the hard work that went into raising the football clubs’ position in the National League.
The second season of the well-loved series was announced by Reynolds and McElhenney on Twitter a week before the official release of the finale episode of the first season.

Welcome To Wrexham Season 1 Recap
The series first season witnessed the two Hollywood stars, Ryan and Rob, attempt to revive one of the three-oldest professional football club associations, Wrexham Club, in 1864.
The Hollywood pair doesn’t have any experience in managing a sports team. The docu-series highlights the pairs’ hope to improve the team and bring a positive change to Wrexham’s local club community. The series also chronicles the rise of the team’s position in the National League after the Hollywood dynamic pair took over.
The series begins with Rob and Ryan checking out the ground and club of Wrexham to see their odds before investing in the club and taking its ownership. The series then cuts to news channels talking about Ryan and Rob’s takeover of the football club and speculating if it is one of their publicity stunts.
The public questioned Ryan and Rob’s decision to take over Wrexham football club instead of any other club. Rob’s interview is shown to the viewers’ where he talks about being a sports fanatic since the start but not having the capacity or talent to play any. He further talks about his family being an Eagles fan and then showing his family home.
During the COVID-19 lockdown duration of 2020, Rob gets inspired to purchase the Wrexham A.F.C. after watching Mythic Quest. The football team has an illustrious past, and it has continued to linger outside of the English Football League for several years.
Rob enlists the help of Ryan, a fellow actor, to purchase the club, and the two Hollywood stars formally extend the deal to Wrexham’s club owner. The news of the offer made by the pair is met with confusion from the fans and ridicule from the media outlets.

The pair’s offer to own the club is accepted by the board with more than 90% votes. The pair is clueless about football, and after the deal settlement, they bring an expert, Shaun Harvey, to help aid the football team. The team’s player is concerned that the new ownership of the team will prove detrimental to their career.
The series then sees the Hollywood star pair convincing a new player to take a bet and play for the Wrexham club. After following several of the ups and downs of the team under the new ownership, the series ends with the Wrexham losing their chance at promotion but getting motivational talk by Rob. Rob tells the team that they have given football fans hope for a better future.

The upcoming season of Welcome To Wrexham will focus on the football club’s push for promotion back to the English Football League. The club has signed a massive sponsorship deal, and the new season will focus on them signing more sponsor deals.
The upcoming new season will witness the new team owners preparing to welcome King Charles II and team player Paul Mullin tackling challenges on-off the pitch. The viewers will get to meet Millie Tipping, the club’s superfan.
The football club is under pressure to receive their promotion due to the opposite team having brilliant players.
