The announcement was made on the official YG Entertainment blog in the form of a poster featuring nothing but a black Polaroid with the comeback date ‘0AM APR 05 2022’.

The 2022 BIGBANG comeback is happening just in time for Spring, and fans have been in shambles with the announcement. If you want to catch the comeback video along with the V.I.P.s all around the world, mark the calendar for 5th April at 12 am KST which falls on a Tuesday.

The release date of the 2022 BIGBANG comeback falls on the is the 5th of the 24 Solar Terms (in the Lunar year calendar). This day is significant as the Qingming Festival. Moreover, Qingming (or Cheongmyeong in the Korean language) refers to when the “skies get clearer gradually,” making way for the bright sunshine which will sprout new plants for the year. Of course, this fits the promise BIGBANG made on lyrics of their 2018 song ‘Flower Road’ to the V.I.P.s all around the world that “they will all meet again when the flowers bloom”.

Will This Be the Last BIGBANG Comeback?
Well, BIGBANG’s T.O.P., aka Choi Seunghyun, has officially left YG Entertainment but is still actively participating in the 2022 BIGBANG comeback. But he has repeatedly stated in interviews that the upcoming comeback is going to be one of the last ones for a very long time (as a 4-member group), citing differences in the music tastes and activities that T.O.P. and the band-members want to pursue. Evidently, many fans are disappointed and heartbroken that the 2022 BIGBANG comeback, which is probably going to be their last one, is not an album or even an EP.
BIGBANG’s long hiatus began when the members started enlisting for their mandatory military service in 2017. The 2018 comeback ‘Flower Road’ coincided with the military enlistment of member Daesung. After this, almost all of the members have been involved in various criminal controversies of varying degrees of seriousness.
