We Are Newcastle’s United Review
The ongoing series has turned out to be a big disappointment for the club and Eddie Howe fans, as they were expecting a docu-series based on the determination and hard work it took for Howie the transformation of regular lad into a champion, instead they got a fucked up version of Saudi’s take over and their investment in football.
The series is more focused on the business aspect of football instead of focusing on the way Howie used his determination to change the club’s fate. If you love seeing boardroom meetings, then you’re going to love the series.
The series will fail to intrigue and captivate you in the way Arsenal and Manchester City did. While watching the series, I couldn’t get the purpose behind showcasing the struggle to get shirt sponsors, and it felt like they were trying too hard to advertise the said sponsor.
This series felt more like Goodbye Football and Welcome Finance with the way it is shown. I would have loved to see Howie’s struggle behind turning regular lads into title challengers and Champions but instead got served with Saudi’s investments in football. The series failed to capture my attention till the first episode’s end.
I won’t be recommending this docu-series to my friends for sure, as it is a waste of one’s precious time. Sadly, fans of the beloved football club would have to get used to being a corporate first and football later. The snippets of players’ interviews are the only thing worth watching in the series.
Honestly, I cannot for the life of me think of someone who would be willing to sign off on such a self-indulgent piece of trash that fails to celebrate their fan’s love. The series feels like a pathetic attempt at self-marketing, and overall, the documentary about Newcastle United just isn’t it. Our rating would be a solid 2.5/5 as it doesn’t have a rating higher than this with its self-promotion instead of the promotion of the struggle of Howie and the players.
