Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden starring “Citadel” on 25th May 2023, released its final episode for season 1. But what actually happened at the end of this action series? Well, we shall cover the ending of Citadel in this article.
The story revolves around two spies, Nadia Sinh and Mason Kane, who work for the global agency Citadel to eradicate the strongest crime gang, Manticore. Both of them are Citadel’s top spies but other than being just professional, there is something personal between the two.
The series begins with Nadia in a hot red dress on a train to complete a mission. However, she is joined by Mason. They were to follow a Manticore agent who was thought to be carrying a Uranium suitcase, but Citadel was eventually tricked.
Citadel Ending
The two were in contact with the Citadel operation agent Bernard Orlick who was guiding them throughout their task. When Nadia confronted the Manticore agent about the Uranium and pointed a gun at her, he tells that this was all a plan.
Citadel Fell
She & Mason are now all surrounded by the people of Manticore, and during the fight, Nadia gets shot. Then, Mason holds her, and one after the other, they say, “I lied to you.” It was just after their statements the train burst into fire. It fell off the track, and Citadel fell.
Who Is Kyle Conroy?
The scene further takes us after 8 years when Mason Kane was no longer himself. He was now Kyle Conroy, who had a wife named Abby and a daughter named Hendrix. Kyle is just Kyle; he has no memory of who Mason is. This was because he was backstopped, which means his memory was erased.
But, there was still an essence of Mason left in him; he constantly used to have a glimpse of Nadia in his dreams. However, one day, Bernard kind of kidnaps all of them and takes Abby, Hendrix, and Kyle to a safe house. He further tells Kyle that he is Mason Kane, a Citadel spy.
The X Case
After learning a bit about his past life, he was assigned the task of capturing the X case from the Manticore Headquarters full of security. He succeeds but is followed by the Silje brothers, Davik & Anders. However, they fail to get the X case and capture Bernard, who is tortured by Dahlia Archer, who leads Manticore.
Now is Nadia really dead? As the story proceeds, Kyle is now all his own to learn about his past, and therefore he reaches a restaurant where he recognizes Nadia and introduces herself as Charlotte. Later, she injects her vile of memory as she is also backstopped and remembers everything, and both of them head towards the safe house with the X case.
Celeste Graham
Nadia & Mason reach the Manticore Black site to rescue Carter Spence, who blames Nadia for the Citadel fall. The scene goes to 10 years earlier in New York, where Nadia introduces Celeste Graham, who is Abby (Kyle’s wife). Shock!!! She was sent o Manticore’s spy Anders Filje to get the Oz Key.
Anders falls for Celeste, but when she replaces the real Oz Key with a fake one, Davik sees her, and they have a fight. After that, Celeste disappears for 3 months with no Oz Key; Mason blames her and asks Grace & Bernard to backstop her without Nadia knowing.
Why Did They Lie?
9 years ago in Athens, Mason proposes to Nadia, but just a few after days, she learns that Celeste has not been sent somewhere safe but backstopped permanently. This pisses her off, and she returns the ring. Later, she learns that she is pregnant; however, she decides to leave all this behind and gives birth to a baby girl, Asha.
Mason tells that he knew she hid the Oz key, and everything he did was to protect her. At the present time, she tells the truth that she made every effort just to save Asha, and Mason was her father. They later get a call from Dahlia that she has Asha and will kill her.
The Truth
Dahlia trades for Asha with the missiles she is planning to launch in a submarine. She wanted him to retrieve them as he only had access to the nukes. He agrees! Later, he dives onto the submarine with Davik, who ditches him, but Nadia reaches. They get Asha back somehow too.
Finally, Kyle reunites with his family and also decides to get his memory back. Then, we saw the flashback of Mason’s memory, where he meets Dahlia, who is revealed as his mother.
She tells him it was because of Citadel that his father died and asks him to share Citadel’s secrets. Did he do it? Yes! Thus, it cleared that it was Mason, not Nadia, behind the Citadel fell. He was the mole.
