The legendary Hip Hop group’s biographical show, Wu-Tang An American Saga, has finally announced the release of its third and final season. The show was started in 2019 as a drama inspired by the real-life events of the Wu-Tang Clan members, with its OG member RZA being the creator of the series.
With the gangster film specialist writer Alex Tse being a co-creator, it’s no surprise that Wu-Tang ended up being appreciated by critics and viewers alike. Although the show had been criticized for not living up to the gang’s reputation, its moody cinematography and song choices made it a good enough series to know more about the clan. It has won awards like Golden Reel Awards and Golden Trailer Awards for the music selection throughout the show.
Coming the plot of Wu-Tang: An American Saga, the show is a realistic and raw expression of the emotions, pain, and hard work that went into the clan’s formation back in the 90s. Since the group was predominantly from Staten Island, NYC, most of the show’s filming is done in those places except for the third season, which will be filmed in New Jersey.
Bobby Diggs, also known as RZA, is an aspiring Rapper who wants the world to know about his music, but due to money and drug epidemics spreading across his community, he has a hard time managing his spirit for the art.
Despite the odds, RZA makes it out of the mess and creates a better life for himself and everyone around him. He is also able to lead a group of similar men who want to pursue music but are forced to give it up due to money or drug issues. The show depicts a continuous battle that they fight between other rappers and people that try to push them down and their own minds that try to give up on their dreams.
Wu-Tang: An American Saga: Cast Members of The Show
Most of the cast members were selected by the consulting producers, who are members of the real Clan. These include Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, GZA, and others. The main character of this show is portrayed by Ashton Sanders, the same actor who played the role of Teenage Chiron in the movie Moonlight. He has received many awards and nominations for this character. This California-born actor has also been a part of movies and shows like The Equalizer, Captive State, and The Proud Family.
The role of Corey Woods is played by Shameik Moore. Shameik is a rapper in real life as well and would be best recognized as the voice behind Miles Morales (Spiderman) from Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse and its 2023 successor, Across The Spider-Verse. Born in Atlanta, he is of Jamaican origins and started his television career through side roles in Tyler Perry’s shows. He used to be one of the main protagonists of the Musical, The Get Down.
Coming Ghostface Killah’s actor, it’s done by Siddiq Saunderson. Although he is new to the world of cinema and television, he has appeared in other shows like Messiah. RZA’s brother, Divine Diggs, is played by Julian Elijah Martinez. Other cast members of Wu-Tang: An American Saga include Erika Alexander (Linda Diggs), Zolee Griggs (Shurrie Diggs), David Brewster (Shotgun), and Johnell Young (GZA, The Genius).
Wu-Tang: An American Saga Season 2: Quick Recap
Season 2 of the show started airing on September 8th, 2021. It began with the episode “Little Ghetto Boys,” which took off from the events of the previous season’s ending. Now that Bobby had shot someone, he and Bobby moved to Ohio, where the rest of the family was living.
As seen in the previous season, Shurrie and Dennis were going to be parents. Bobby meets up with his girlfriend at a party, but when her ex shows up, things take a turn for the worse.
Seeing Bobby in a dilemma, his mother advises him to confess his sins and obey the law. To shift his mind to a better place, Bobby takes up music again and does his best to make something of the confusion he is in, but others from the group are seen still struggling to find their own identities and what they want to do in life.
Seeing his clan members this way, Bobby decides to guide them toward a better life. He asks Divine, Sha, Dennis, and the others to let go of whatever past grudges they may have and try to work together through their new group named Wu-Tang Clan.
Following his words, the clan soon starts to work together and make their special recording studio. Since Divine has good business sense, he helps create an identity for the Clan as a brand. The Diggs dug deeper to produce a record that would have music capable of having a great impact on the music industry.
They come up with something soon and try their best to get it across various stores in the city. Soon after this record was released, they managed to create a platform for themselves within the community.
