Providing a deeper look into the life of another professional wrestler, a new episode of Dark Side Of The Ring will be aired soon. Although Professional wrestling is considered a theatre act, it’s often filled with such skilled moves and fighting strategies that these matches never fail to glue their viewers onto their screens with the glorious fighting.
First seen on April 10th, 2019, Dark Side of The Ring centers around these same professionals who may seem strong and mighty on stage but are often dealing with dark and unfortunate situations in their everyday lives. Wrestling is still famous in certain places, but over the years, the craze behind the sport has eventually toned down a bit. Now that its popularity is milder, the hidden scandals and mistreatment widespread in the wrestling world are now being revealed.
Created by Evan Husney and Jason Eisener, this sports docu-drama has managed to feature quite a handful of wrestlers that were popular names in their primes. Up until now, we’ve seen wrestlers like Randy Savage, Bruiser Brody, New Jack, Brian Pillman, and Grizzly Smith, to name a few. The 4th season of Dark Side of The Ring has been airing since May 30th, 2023, and featured the heartbreaking story of Chris Candido and Tammy Lynn Sytch in the premiere episode.
Dark Side of The Ring S4: What Happened in Episode 1?
In the first episode of this sports drama, we see the story of Tammy and Chris. Tammy and Chris were high school sweethearts, with Tammy supporting Chris in everything he did. When Chris started participating in wrestling matches, she would cheer him on from backstage, but eventually, Tammy developed an interest in the sport too, and started to appear with Chris on stage. The wrestling couple soon became a famous pair, but Tammy’s fame started to increase further than Chris’ ever had.
Being the first female wrestler who blew up on the internet, Tammy had no problem becoming a sensation. As the documentary begins, we see that Chris had an interest in wrestling from when he was just 13, as he would often sneak to Brooklyn with his friend to practice at the Galaxian Bar. Tamara Lynn Sytch was a bright and smart girl preparing for her college exams right after school. As Tammy and Chris start meeting often, they fall in love and form a deep bond with each other.
Tammy never had an interest in wrestling, but she was made the manager for Chris. Mick Foley (WWE Legend) explains more about Chris’s personality and how the cleanest duo to ever exist eventually fell into the trap of fame and money. Tammy being more popular, didn’t sit right with Chris, and although he loved her, these differences caused them to fall into the dark side of a relationship, where they were involved in infidelity and drugs.
