Ciao House is a new reality cooking competition on Food Network that combines the elements of your typical Top Chef vibes with the interactions between contestants Big Brother style. It’s how the producers put those two ingredients in a blender, strained it, and garnished it with the ambiance and Tuscan scenarios that make it really attractive. So far, there’s been one elimination, there are two main teams (Corey and Matt) and they are pushing in the confessionals for leadership as the challenges get more difficult.
The last man standing will have the luck to learn all sorts of culinary pieces of training across Italy from the top restauranteurs, chefs, and sommeliers in the country, an experience that will surely hone their skills ahead of the future they decide to embark on. To become the best, some people will go to the chopping board, and there are a couple of people on both Corey and Matt’s team willing to do a power grab Big Brother style. They’re just waiting for the right moment.
Ciao House Episode 3 Recap
We begin with the chefs out on the Tuscan road in vans on their way to an undisclosed location. Matt is now the chef, and the contestants are talking about the leadership skills necessary in the kitchen. Corey is also enthusiastic about his team.
Later, the teams arrive at a winery in Tuscany and they are met by the owners and the hosts who tell them that today’s challenge will center around celebrating the elements of wine and everything related to traditional Italian restaurant cooking. They have 75 minutes to produce a three-course meal paired with wines selected by the hosts and the owners of the winery, there’s another twist, they must use summer truffles on each dish. Which are difficult to use because of their flavor.
The Cook: Lunch
Matt chooses dinner. And since it’s boys vs. girls competition today, Corey will stick with Matt despite being the other team leader. After choosing teams the girls, led by Saba, go to the kitchen and decide on beef tartar, duck breast with truffle polenta, and for dessert, a stuffed cannoli. For the judges, the tartar and wine pairing is good. The judges didn’t like the duck’s presentation as it was cooked too thick. And the cannoli failed on the shell but the judges found the filling good.

The Cook: Dinner
It’s time for the boys to cook dinner, they head to the kitchen and decide on an heirloom tomato crab salad with truffle breadcrumb paired with In Albis wine as the first dish. The entrée, it’s a truffle pâte à choux with bleu cheese cream paired with Vin Santo wine along with seared tenderloin with mashed potatoes paired with truffle chianti. The judges thought that the first dish had no truffle, the meat was bland, and the pâte à choux was well executed.
The Verdict
After deliberation, the wiinning team is Matt’s. Seba’s team must decide who goes home. So Jess steps in to put herself in for elimination because the duck was disappointing but when it comes to voting, the team is hung and they let the judges decide, this surprises them and angers them, and end up sending Jess home. The team captains for the next show are Omar and Matt, but they let him with a warning because he shouldn’t send someone else for the first course ever.
