With this slate of shows and productions, Disney bets on a competitive proposal aiming to gather more subscriptions and followers in a segment dominated by Netflix and local streaming platforms in the Asian market, and capitalizing on the demand that Korean productions have elsewhere around the world. Things are looking good. Let’s see what RACE has to offer!
What Is RACE Korean Drama About?
RACE is a miniseries that explores how work dynamics take place in a top-level public relations firm. In this series, Hong Jung-hyun plays a thriving PR executive who made it to the top by using his connections and hard work and we also get familiar with Lee Yeon-hee’s character, an aspiring public relations specialist who’s just getting started and stumbles into a pressure-cooker like an environment where cronyism, age gaps, and competitiveness get in the way of rising in a company with lots of success.
While Hong’s character is at the top, and hungry for new clients and money, Lee’s character, a skillful and passionate employee is facing the challenges of working for a small-caliber firm with little, to no hopes of climbing the corporate ladder. As the series unfolds, we see how the characters have to deal with the peculiar things of the position they hold, one has to deal with corporate cronyism and an older boss, and the other one realizes that the work environment is turning into a dead-end job and the other notices that the balance between work and personal lives tends to become faded in such a competitive market. If you’re interested in a series that depicts work culture, and chronicles the Korean expression of “Wo-La-Bel” a portmanteau on work-life-balance, then this Disney+ Hotstar production will cater to your tastes.
