The episode about Ben from season 1 is the superior of the two, even though each of these episodes expertly shakes things up. Not only does Andy Samberg make a hilarious stand-in for the narrator in this episode, but it also offers viewers their first real glimpse of Ben’s other side.
The majority of Season 1’s attention was directed toward setting up Devi’s plot. Season 2 feels more liberated to discuss topics like weight disorders and sexuality now that everything has been established. Additionally, they come up with novel ways to talk about these topics.
The possibility of Fabiola and Eve becoming a new couple is one of the most intriguing elements. For whatever reason, Fabiola and Eleanor feel more marginalized in season 2 than they did in season 1. Their storylines in the second half of the season feel extremely hurried, and they don’t have anything to do in the first half. It is unfortunate how two outstanding characters were used.
From the start of season 1, Paxton was the focus of Devi’s fascination, and it was entertaining to see how their relationship developed. Then, as Ben emerged as a potential love interest, a dramatic love triangle developed.
Season 2 overemphasized this aspect of the plot, nevertheless. Who liked Devi, who was angry with Devi, and who was envious of whom were topics of incessant back-and-forth? Hopefully, season 3 of Never Have I Ever takes a novel approach to it.
