Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 40th Anniversary Edition Pro Controller remains difficult to find, with the special Switch 2 accessory sold out through Nintendo’s online store and other major retailers. Nintendo lists the controller at $99.99, while the version bundled with a display stand costs $109.99.

For Zelda fans looking for an official alternative before Ocarina of Time launches, the older The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is available for $69.99 at GameStop. The controller was also offered for the same price through Woot, but the Woot deal has now sold out, making GameStop the relevant option for shoppers at the time of writing.

Tears of the Kingdom Controller Is Still Compatible With Switch 2

The $69.99 controller is the original Nintendo Switch Pro Controller rather than a Switch 2 Pro Controller. Nintendo confirms that the original Switch Pro Controller can be paired wirelessly with Switch 2, although it does not provide the newer model’s full feature set.

That distinction is important because the Switch 2 Pro Controller includes several upgrades that are absent from the Tears of the Kingdom edition. Nintendo’s newer controller features a dedicated C button for GameChat, programmable GL/GR buttons, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Tears of the Kingdom controller still includes motion controls, HD rumble, and built-in amiibo functionality, making it a functional option for playing Ocarina of Time on Nintendo’s new hardware. Woot’s listing also confirms Switch 2 compatibility, with some functionality limited.

Nintendo’s upcoming Ocarina of Time remake is scheduled to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. The game features rebuilt visuals, voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music, and enhanced controls.

With the $99.99 anniversary controller sold out, the $69.99 Tears of the Kingdom model offers Zelda fans a cheaper officially licensed alternative. However, buyers should remember that it is an older-generation controller and does not include the Switch 2-specific features.
