Young Love: Series Summary

Young Love is about a small millennial family that includes the music producer father Stephen and a cancer survivor mother Angela along with their young daughter Zuri and a pet cat named Rocky.

From what we have seen in the trailer, the story starts when the hair stylist and YouTuber Angela returns to work after finishing her cancer treatment and having fully recovered from it. Stephen is a music producer who tries his best to impress the famous rapper Lil Ankh, while Zuri is disappointed to be attending a school fundraiser by herself.

The short film Hair Love is mostly dialogue-free and we see a black father struggling to style his daughter’s hair for the very first time, instead of the mother. The reason why the dad is styling Zuri’s hair is not revealed until the very end when we learn that Zuri’s mother, Angela, has been battling cancer.

In the trailer for the series, we see Zuri’s hair being styled by her mother this time, but Zuri is not really happy with it. She believes the hairstyle is too childish, and there is a sequence about Zuri making a red-carpet appearance with that particular hairdo.
