Turkish dramas (mostly romance or family) seem to have really struck a chord with audiences worldwide in recent times. As a result, there’s been a huge surge in the viewership and ratings of these shows of late, with their engaging plots, excellent acting, and gorgeous visuals attracting more and more viewers every year.
Yali Capkini, also known as Golden Boy, is no exception to this. The first season of the Turkish drama premiered in September of 2022, and enjoyed popularity not only in its home country but all over the world too. Almost a year later, the second season is here, with the first episode having been released on the 12th of September 2023, to take the plot forward.
So, what new advancements and revelations will Yali Capkini Episode 2 hold for us? Before we get into all that, let’s first take a quick recap of the story up till Episode 2 of the show.
Everything that happened till Yali Capkini Episode 2
The first season of the show was filled with ups and downs, drama and problems, but also a lot of warmth. If you want a full, comprehensive recap of the season, you can check it out here. In short, the relationship between our main lead couple, Ferit (played by Mert Ramazan Demir) and Seyran (played by Afra Saraçoglu) is precarious, to say the least.
The last season ended with the two getting a divorce after Ferit shows through his affair that he has not, in fact, changed his playboy ways at all. Seyran decides that she’s had enough of his whims and wants out. However, this is exactly the slap in the face that Ferit needs for him to realize just how irreplaceable and precious Seyran is in his life.
Despite agreeing to the separation, Ferit cannot help but regret entirely his own mistakes and foolhardy way of living after the divorce. This is where the first season ended, and left fans with this cliffhanger and a whole sea of possible directions the show could go in.
In Season 2 Episode 1, we are met with a startling discovery- Ferit has been shot by Yusuf, Seyran’s jealous and vengeful ex, and hurriedly transported to Istanbul in the hopes of saving his life. The entire Korhan family gets wind of this and his parents rush to his side.
With Ferit’s surgery being extremely risky and emotions running high, his mother, Gülgün, is furious at Seyran as she sees the girl to be the reason her son put himself in danger. However, Seyran is not alone- Suna has successfully managed to escape her abusive husband’s clutches, and does not leave her sister’s side.
There are other developments in this episode as well- Hattuc is the one who steps up, taking it upon herself to meet Saffet and Halis Ağa, and finally set the story straight. She wants to close this saga once and for all.
In the meantime, it seems that Kazim has shown absolutely no character development at all. The man instead chooses to take advantage of this extremely delicate and sensitive situation for his own benefit, mindless of the fact that his daughter is suffering immensely.
This catastrophe does have a positive impact, too, however bizarre it may seem. Ifakat, who is the eldest daughter-in-law of Halis Agha, finally has no option but to ultimately accept Ferit and Seyran’s relationship.
The biggest and most important outcome of all this, though, is Seyran and Ferit’s reunion, and the way the two of them can finally be together the way they want. Ferit’s surgery does go well, and in fact, his beloved Seyran visits him as he recovers, as the two act like shy teenagers.
Episode 1 ends with the lovely, tearful marriage celebration of the main couple. With both Seyran and Ferit looking as dashing as ever, the amount of sheer happiness and relief on their faces is definitely one for the books.
Yali Capkini Episode 2: Preview and Spoilers
Even though it seems like the story is at a fairly peaceful place now, get ready for another series of ups and downs as two new characters make their entrance into the show- Halis Ağa’s daughter Nükhet and his grandson Kaya.
These two previously unknown members of the family are going to prove to be a menace in episode 2. The brunt of the issue is on Halis Ağa, however, as he wishes to use the two to get revenge on the rest of his family.
It starts when Halis Ağa commands Kaya, at dinner, to sit in the place originally belonging to Ferit’s brother Fuat. Clearly, this is a blatant show of disrespect, and this makes Ferit fly into a rage. During this heated argument, Fuat’s wife leaves abruptly in tears, unable to withstand how Halis Ağa is insulting her husband.
Both Kaya and Nükhet seem to be in on it, and Kaya himself does not make the situation any better. He’s arrogant and disruptive and seems to have the sole aim of getting on Ferit’s nerves, which he does.
With the family drama heating up now more than ever, there’s bound to be bonds forged and bonds broken in this discord, though who exactly will be involved in all this will all be revealed in episode 2.
