After Chicago Fire’s first season, Chicago PD—the first of the One Chicago franchises—was created. All of these well-known NBC shows, including Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, and Chicago Justice, are set in the same fictional universe.
On January 8, 2014, the midseason replacement series premiered on NBC. The show became a huge hit and is now running in its 10th season. Sophia Bush plays Detective Erin Lindsay, a fierce Intelligence Unit detective and ex-CI that Voight mentored when she was a minor offender. Erin Lindsay was one of the major characters in the first four seasons of the show.
Actress Sophia Bush, an actress, known for her roles in One Tree Hill and John Tucker Must Die, left the NBC Chicago P.D. series in 2017 after four seasons of playing Detective Erin Lindsay.
Bush left the show following the season 4 finale, and it was revealed that her character had relocated to New York City and accepted a position with the FBI. Sophia Bush left the franchise five years ago, but the public’s curiosity over the actress and her unexpected exit from the project hasn’t diminished.
Why Did Sophia Bush Leave Chicago PD?
For One Chicago programs like Chicago P.D., losing many characters every season is common. While many Chicago cast members left due to the plots of their characters developing naturally or because they decided not to renew their contracts when their contracts ended, Sophia Bush’s departure was surrounded by a little more controversy.
She initially stated that she was quitting for personal reasons. Sophia wanted to devote more of her time to activism and charitable work, according to the actress’s reps, who gave a vague explanation. Despite Bush’s explanation regarding the departure, speculation quickly spread that her real reason for leaving had to do with the “inappropriate behavior” and sexual harassment of series actor Jason Beghe.
In an interview with the podcast Armchair Expert, Bush explained that the reason she had intended to leave earlier but stayed so long was to protect the jobs of several cast and crew members. In the podcast, she said that she had to endure a lot of “Abusive behavior.”
She also brought up Jason Beghe, who plays Voight in the show, as a source of uneasiness, which prompted an investigation into the actor’s conduct on the set. NBC started an inquiry after these complaints and discovered several additional women impacted by Jason’s inappropriate actions.
Bush lamented in an interview how the “intolerable” working conditions on the show made her a “workhorse” and put her health at risk for the project. Her employers, she claimed, either didn’t take her seriously or preferred to lose her as a show character than implement the adjustments she wanted.
Bush particularly spoke to the difficult working conditions in Chicago, where it was frequently below freezing, and people were falling ill as a result of the severe weather. On Twitter, she also expressed her outrage, writing That in every industry where powerful men abuse their position, which is the reality for women. She added that, by the time women graduate from college, 1 in 4 of them had experienced assault. She calls it a “widespread issue” that must be fixed.
Will Erin return to Chicago PD for Season 10?
Even though it has been years, there has been no hint of Bush making a comeback. Many fans had anticipated we would eventually see Bush return, even if only for a guest appearance. Fans continue to wonder whether Lindsay will ever return to the Intelligence Unit, even after all these years.
Bush might eventually come back, but considering the circumstances of her departure, it seems improbable. She was a crucial component of the show’s success, and since she left, according to the fans of the show, it has not been the same. She did not leave the series on the best of terms, so it’s doubtful that she would be eager to come back, even in a guest role.
She has also been busy with other acting jobs. She made guest appearances on well-known television shows like This Is Us and Love, Victor. She has a lead part and is a producer in the 2022 show called Good Sam, along with Jason Isaacs. Unfortunately, the show got canceled after being on air for one season.
