SM Entertainment’s first girl group ever, S.E.S. was given the title of the ‘Nation Fairies’. Consisting of Bada, Eugene, and Shoo, the trio was at the heights during its time. But as the girl group disbanded, things went down for one of the members as well. From 1997 to 2022, Kunimitsu Shoo or Yoo Soo Young used to be a popular name in the first-gen k-pop scene. Popular with her stage name Shoo, she used to be a part of the infamous girl group. Known as the maknae of S.E.S., Shoo was the lead dancer, sub-vocalist, and the main rapper of the girl group. The former k-pop idol has been making it to the headline, but for all the wrong reasons.
From an acting career to a solo music career, Shoo had tried everything, but things were barely working out for her. As she got married in 2010 and had her first child, Shoo decided to take a break from celebrity life. She came back to the limelight as S.E.S. announced its 20th-anniversary celebration reunion and comeback album. But as soon as the celebration ended, Shoo was back in trouble once again. The maknae of S.E.S. had developed a gambling habit and had landed herself in trouble.
What Happened To Shoo, i.e., The Maknae of S.E.S.?
Gambling is illegal for Korean nationals, no matter what country or region they are in. Suffering from habitual gambling, Shoo was on a trip to Macao when she decided to gamble millions of wons the casino there. Unable to pay for the debt, Shoo was sued because of all the debt. As the news broke out in public, all the hell broke loose on her as she had to go through the wrath of the netizens. During her trial, there was some indication of the suspicion of habitual gambling. But the judge went on to dismiss other charges like fraud and domestic gambling.

As punishment, Shoo received two years of probation along with 80 hours of community service. And if Shoo was to step out of her boundaries and create trouble during her probation, she was threatened with a 6-month sentence as well. With a total of 798 million won debt to pay, Shoo had to pawn a lot of her assets, including her own house. After all the cases and trials were settled, the former idol made a few appearances on TV. She shared how hard the time was and how much she regretted her actions. Shoo also revealed that she got severely suicidal and thought of leaving the world.
How Is S.E.S. Shoo Doing After The Court Trials?
During her probation, Shoo took responsibility for her actions. With no other way left to pay for her debt, the former idol had to work several jobs together to be able to save up a bit. According to the sources, Shoo worked two shifts a day at a side dish store. She worked at an acquaintance’s restaurant along with selling clothes at Dongdaemun market. In January 2022, Shoo made her first public appearance after all the controversy. She posted an apology letter on her social media accounts. Through the letter, the former idol wholeheartedly apologized to everyone for all the troubles she had caused.
In May 2022, Shoo was back in the headlines with a new name. Now known as SES’s Sugar BJ, Shoo made her debut as a BJ on Flex TV broadcast. Wearing revealing clothes, she conducted a live broadcast on Flex TV and shared how much she missed the fans. She also went on to perform a girl group dance as a ‘thank you’ to her viewers. After the stream ended, Shoo received 1 million won cyber money. Over 2,500 people, including other members of S.E.S., Bada, and Eugene, watched the live stream. While Shoo says that she likes this live-streaming broadcast more than the regular TV shows, fans and netizens on the other side have negative reactions toward the former idol.
