The story is set in Canada, and as you may have guessed from the name of the show, Meru’s powers can be gained back by sleeping with men. Who Is Meru The Succubus?
The animation Meru the Succubus is an original work by Twitter artist Skuddbutt and was made in the year 2020. The main character, Meru, is an original character made by Twitter artist meru_nyaa. The project was a work funded completely by patrons, so as you can tell, Meru the Succubus is a creation of human desire and dedication.
Although a completely original work, Meru the Succubus has garnered the interest of many people. Why it is so popular is the fact that despite it being hentai, it has a strong and modern plot – not to forget, the succubus is extremely cute as well. Currently, there are 5 OVAs that are available to watch as a series on the artist community website, Newgrounds.
Plot Of The OVA
To those not familiar with the concept, a succubus is a fantastical creature – a demon (usually female) whose source of energy comes from having sexual intercourse and activity. In folklore, it is believed that during the course of its energy replenishing, succubi also suck away the life force of the men they sleep with time – which is why they are dangerous.
It is obvious that a mythical creature like that will be the object of desire for many, which is perhaps why Meru the Succubus became a popular cultural aspect of internet media. The red-skinned avatar that we know her to be in is actually the body of the girl she has possessed in order to exact revenge on a priest.
The animation starts off with Meru waking up in the girl’s body – the red skin is probably a sign of showing possession. According to the special notes in the OVA that come in between intervals, Meru’s full name is Merudania – a spirit of a succubus demon that manifested around 1100 years ago in Northern Italy. She can possess any virgin female soul as long as their minds are full of sexual desires.
Meru is excited about the fact that she managed to possess the girl’s body and then flies off immediately to look for her first victim. The succubus needs to take in sufficient amounts of male release in order to maintain her possession over a body – or the person possessed might become self-aware and try to cast Meru out.
The only way to permanently possess a body is to sleep with a man who has abstained himself completely from sexual activity – which is why Meru wants to sleep with the priest and get her revenge. According to the special notes in the animation, Meru originally had a lot of powers when she was at her full potential – flight and levitation, hypnosis, shapeshifting, teleportation and even ESP. However, a priest separated her from them, which is why her ultimate goal is to get back at him.
