Chingy was brought up in Walnut Park in St. Louis, Missouri. As a young child, he developed a keen interest in music and especially in the hip-hop genre. He attended Pattonville High School, where he formed a team who were interested in rapping just like him and named it as ‘Dust Brothers’.
Just in the age of 17 years old, Chingy started writing songs and soon enough he launched his first album named as WGTC (We Got the City) along with his group, Dust Brothers. The album was good as a start but couldn’t catch much attention from listeners. Even so, the album wasn’t a big hit but it was more than enough to showcase Chingy’s hand in producing. Thanks to this a local producer took him under his wings and groomed him further.
Chingy tried his luck by releasing singles independently and his hard work paid off when he was signed under the Ludacris labels. In 2003, Chingy signed a contract with the labels and released his first single, “Right Thurr” The song hit the charts and soon reached to 2nd spot on Billboard 100. The album even sold over 2 million copies worldwide, rising him to fame. Then there was no turning back for him.
Chingy also founded a group in the year of 2004 with the name “Full Dekk Music Group”, which is formerly known as Slot-A-Lot Records. The group is still active and has a number of artists signed under the labels including Chris Woodhouse, Young Swift, M.C., DJ Noize, and more.

The rapper also changed his labels after working for so long, he joined hands with the Bungalo Records, which is a branch of Universal Company.
