Season 7 of Game of Thrones featured a striking moment. The evil Petyr Baelish was finally punished for his evil deeds. Arya Stark slit his throat in front of everyone. Well, his death wasn’t too surprising. Fans of this classic series had already anticipated Baelish or Little Finger’s death.
Littlefinger created a lot of chaos and tried to harm the Stark family. Fans were eager to see him pay a price for all the evil schemes he plotted in Winterfell. Just before the final moment of Arya killing him, we see Sansa state clearly how Littlefinger betrayed them.
The character of Littlefingers was portrayed perfectly by Irish actor Aidan Gillen. He did an excellent job of perfecting and displaying evil traits.
The Biggest Twist of Season 7
Games of Thrones Season 7 showcased the unusual commotion between Arya and Sansa. Fans thought that they might end up killing each other. Sansa was portrayed in the season 7 finale as if she was planning to murder Arya. She managed to fool Littlefinger for a short while before finally turning the game around.
The drama quotient was quite high when Arya slit Littlefinger’s throat with that same weapon that this guy pointed at Bran a few seasons back. Littlefinger had not expected his end so soon. He kept on begging Sansa, as he believed that he would manage to manipulate her and thus get his punishment abandoned.
But thanks to the adequate evidence presented against Littlefinger, there was no chance that he could be spared. His treason and murder charges were proven to be true.
LittleFinger: The Master Manipulator
Littlefinger, or Lord Petyr Baelish, was someone who had mastered the art of manipulation. He was indeed a quite witty person who made use of his manipulations to gain power.
He was the owner of several brothers and used this as a means to gain immense wealth and power. But his hunger for power resulted in many conflicts.
It was Littlefinger who initiated the major conflict in Westeros through these manipulations. This conflict led to the War of the Five Kings. The war destroyed several lives and properties. Littlefinger married Lysa Arryn and then killed her to gain the prestigious title of Lord Protector of the Vale.
He manipulated Lysa’s son, Robin Arryn, for his inferior motives. He was desperate to get the chance to sit on the iron throne. He tried his best to influence Sansa Stark. He desired to attain influence and power among the Starks and thought that Sansa would be the easiest way to do so.
Events Preceding Littlefinger’s Death in the Season 7 Finale
But the wings of conspiracies and manipulations cannot fly for too long. Fans awaited the day when he would receive punishment for his crimes. And it finally happened in Season 7, Episode 7.
It was well-exposed how Littlefinger plotted the murders of Jon Arryn, Lysa Arryn, and Eddard Stark. It was satisfying to see him meet his end at the hands of none other than Arya Stark.
Bran presents all the evidence in front of everyone. Littlefinger continuously denied all the charges. Bran, on the other hand, was adamant about not letting him escape the wrath of all. Bran tells him that he was the one who attacked Ned, and he even repeats the words that Littlefinger told Ned.
Littlefinger is stunned to hear this and has no answer. He starts realising that this time he cannot escape. Arya displays the Valyrian steel dagger that was used to assassinate Bran. Arya reveals that the dagger belonged to Littlefinger. Littlefinger gifted it to Bran in order to manipulate him.
The desperate Littlefinger tells Sansa that he has been with her since she was a small girl and has tried his best to keep her safe from all dangers. Sansa retorts back by saying that if he thinks he protected her by selling her to the Boltons, then he is absolutely delusional. Littlefinger tells Royce to let him go back to the Eyrie. He wishes to speak with Sansa alone.
Littlefinger tried to convince Sansa that he truly loved her. But Sansa made it clear that he betrayed her badly. Sansa, on the other hand, was grateful to him for teaching him so many life lessons that she would remember for the rest of her life.
Sansa is unmoved by all these pleas. She isn’t ready at all to forgive him. Arya steps up and executes him. Littefinger drops dead on the floor as blood gushes out of his throat.
