“We’d Love to Have Those Conversations” – Pocketpair CEO Says Palworld Could Come to Switch 2, but the Ongoing Legal Battle Complicates Things

Takuro Mizobe calls Nintendo Switch 2 an incredible platform for Japanese games and says Pocketpair would welcome discussions about bringing its creature-collecting survival game to the console despite the ongoing patent dispute.

Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe has expressed interest in bringing Palworld to Nintendo Switch 2, saying the studio would welcome discussions about a potential port. His comments offer renewed hope for Nintendo players interested in the creature-collecting survival game, which is currently available on other platforms.

In an interview with VGC, Mizobe praised Nintendo Switch 2 and its importance to the Japanese gaming industry. When asked whether Pocketpair would consider releasing Palworld on the console, he responded, “Of course,” before explaining the studio’s position.

“If there’s ever a future where we have the opportunity to discuss or consider bringing Palworld to the Switch platform in some way, then we’d love to have those conversations,”

Mizobe said.

However, his comments do not confirm that a Switch 2 version is in development. The possibility remains dependent on whether Pocketpair gets the opportunity to pursue such a release.

Why a Switch 2 Port Is Now More Realistic

Pocketpair previously expressed doubts about bringing Palworld to Nintendo hardware. In June 2024, Mizobe considered a port unlikely because of the original Switch’s technical limitations. However, communications director John Buckley told IGN in March 2025 that a Switch 2 version was worth considering if the console had sufficient processing power.

The newer console’s capabilities make the possibility more plausible, but Pocketpair has not announced a port, release date, or development plans.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in September 2024, seeking an injunction and damages.

Pocketpair subsequently modified certain gameplay mechanics, including how players summon Pals and use them for gliding. The developer also stated that it continues to contest the allegations in its official update.

The case remains ongoing, with the Tokyo District Court expected to disclose its preliminary view on November 9, 2026. Mizobe declined to discuss the legal proceedings during the interview.

For now, Nintendo Switch 2 owners will have to wait for an official announcement. Mizobe’s comments establish Pocketpair’s interest in exploring a port, but they do not guarantee that Palworld will arrive on the platform.
