We Are Family has an interesting concept, but I had no idea what exactly was going on when I first saw it. But at its heart, We Are Family stars Anthony Anderson with many credits, most notably the start of Blackish, and his mom is also here. And we are going to be hearing from the relatives of different celebrities. We’re gonna get clues to the identity of that celebrity, and then a panel of 100 people will be guessing who the celebrity is.
So basically, it’s like the audience are the participants. It took me a little bit to figure out what the concept was, and I also started off thinking like, ohh, are all of the celebrities singers? Or, like, you know, actively involved in the music industry as their main career, which I quickly realized is not the case.
It’s really a game show, and it’s like if you went to Prices is Right, and everyone gets to participate right off the bat, and you’re not just waiting to get called down.
We Are Family Show Format & Review
Before diving into We Are Family Episode 2, let’s quickly talk about the show’s format. It seemed like there were some extra special people in the audience who were playing. There are like 100 people in the audience, but they highlighted a couple of people at the beginning of episode 1. Obviously, you’re not gonna get to meet all hundred people.
Also, I did notice, like, how Anthony Anderson knows all their names. This doesn’t seem to make sense to me, so they must have been pre-selected.
Here’s part of my issue with this show: I will say I laughed I had a good time with the first episode. A lot of it was like, this is ridiculous kind of laughter. But part of my issue with it is that a lot of the emphasis of the show is placed on the contestants, these 100 people from the audience that were thrown to us, because apparently we’re supposed to care.
They have to find a way for us to care even a little bit to root for someone at the end. Because the celebrity’s relatives and the celebrity themselves are not really that important, they’re the subject of the game, but they’re not really actively involved in the game itself besides a performance.
We also have the thing here where we’re gonna go to different people in the audience, including Anthony Anderson’s mom, who’s the star of the show. Now let’s discuss when Episode 2 of We Are Family will be released and what will happen in it.
We Are Family Episode 2 Release Date & Preview
We Are Family Episode 2 will be released on 11 January 2024 on FOX. This Episode is titled “Who’s Your Mama?”. At the time of writing, 8 episodes are scheduled for this first season, and we think there will be only 8 episodes.
The Synopsis of Episode 2 is as follows: “Three brand-new competitors wow audiences with their meekly famous relatives in solo and duet performances.”
