Vgly is an HBO Max Latin America original series that chronicles the lives of a group of friends in Mexico as they navigate the ups and downs of their day-to-day as they work and try to become the best in the competitive, hardcore world of rap battles in Spanish in their hometown. Shot in beautiful HD with great editing and an entirely Mexican cast, the show tells us how these dudes have to face all sorts of things: From rival rap battles, broken hearts, coming of age, balancing singing, work, love, and family to the crime-ridden streets that blight Mexico.
If you like hip-hop and the urban rap genre productions, then this is the kind of show that you don’t want to miss as it crudely depicts how things go about in Mexico, a country with great cultural heritage but also ridden with inequities, social unrest, and crime. And through their lyrics, these men narrate how harsh it can be to live there.
Vgly Episode 10 & 11 Recap
Vgly acknowledges to his crew that he borrowed money, and the crew backs out on him. He’s feeling bad about it. He makes a promise to do whatever he must to rescue the crew, but it seems as though the odds are against him. The moment he drops out of the cab, he’s jumped by someone who pesters him about the money Vgly owns Ceviche. He’s late on the payment, and two other dudes approach menacingly; they beat him up to the ground, savagely kicking him and breaking his mouth.
Then, one of the dudes pops out a gun, and they ask for money; Vgly opens his bag and hands over a silver Tribbie, and the thugs leave him bleeding and badly beaten up on the street. The show cuts to Vgly on his bead, all black and blue; Yung Jo is texting him about the Tribbie, and Vgly doesn’t know what to do. He looks in the mirror, brushes his teeth, and spits blood clots from the beating he took the night before.
He goes to the store to talk to Bubble, who has no idea of what went down the night before. After a little pep talk, Vgly heads over to Data’s crib, and she’s really mad about him borrowing money from Ceviche; she’s right to point out that Data lost a big opportunity with IO, and Vgly gets snubbed off by Data.
He leaves and goes back to Bubble’s store, and Trippy, the producer fronting him the money, says he’s being cut off from the merch, the royalties, and the studio time. Bubble and Vgly beg for more time to strike out a deal. Trippu leaves, and then two armed motorcyclists jump into the store; they run out the back, and a chase ensues. Vgly evades them, and he knows that time is running out for him.
