It has been nearly a year since the fans of Vera were left on cliffhangers after the ending of the finale of season 12. So, the show came back with three new episodes recently.
The viewers of the show were worried about Brenda Blethyn’s alias in the finale of series 12, The Darkest Evening. As the gunshot was heard, we saw Vera falling to the ground.
Fans were left hanging in between because the scene was cut to an advertisement break, but it was a big relief for the fans when DCI Stanhope was right in the Christmas Special. In this article, we’re going to take a look at Vera’s filming locations.
Where was the show filmed?
Filming for the upcoming season of the show took place last year around the North East and even reached North Yorkshire.
Brenda was reunited with her original sidekick, David Leon, who has rejoined the cast over a year after quitting the show. With Vera back, the drama will square up against the first episode of the newest Call to the Midwife, both of which premiere at 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Filming locations
The Vera cast filmed in a variety of locations last summer, including Tynemouth, Wylam, Gateshead, and Beadle.
The show’s lead actress, Brenda Blethyn, has revealed some information about the locations viewers should watch out for in episode one, including one that takes viewers back to series one.
Who’s in the cast of the brand-new Vera series?
For the next season, several well-known characters are returning, along with some newcomers and noteworthy omissions. Among the important players is Jon Morrison as DC.
Riley Jones and Kenny Lockhart as DC Dr. Paula Bennett will be portrayed by Mark Edwards, David Leon as DS Joe Ashworth, and Sarah Kameela Impey.
Stephen Lord, Nimmy March, Patrick McNamee, Amit Shah, Andrew Dunn, Samantha Seager, Bryan Dick, Bruce Khan, and TV newbies Evie Hargreaves, Travis Ross and Susan Jayne-Robinson are among the other stars in the first episode.
Brenda shared her filming experience
Enthusiasts may see references to the original Vera episode in the first new film, including the scene where her father Hector’s ashes were dispersed at the North Shields fish dock.
She said it involved some market stallholders, so we filmed scenes in Hexham in Northumberland, which we call Bentham. This confirms that Hexham will also appear in the new season premiere.
With the actual market there and Hexham Abbey across the street, it was a beautiful scene, and she managed to steal a few minutes to explore the Abbey.
They were filming on the beachfront when one of the fans, an 81-year-old woman, passed out from the heat. The team medics intervened when they noticed some disturbance in the crowd.
Vera Season 13 Plot
Vera calls out to a quiet country lane in the first of three stand-alone episodes, Fast Love, where a young man looks to have been hit and killed in a hit-and-run.
She learns from her inquiry that he was a stock trader who was notorious for his conceited behavior, which may have contributed to his death.
Vera learns from the inquiry that the cheeky chappy has a complex personality. Being obstinate and arrogant, but at what cost? Easily able to acquire what he wants. Aside from bitter rivalry and difficult relationships, who would want to murder the Barrow boy?
The much-awaited Vera season 13 finds inspiration in the critically praised novels written by well-known author Ann Cleeves. It is reasonable to suppose that the remaining storylines will continue to dive into exciting situations culled from the pages of Cleeves’ novels as fans anxiously await the following episodes.
Return of David Leon
It has been revealed that Vera season 13 will consist of three feature-length episodes instead of the usual four. Fans and the actors have been eagerly awaiting David Leon’s comeback.
David makes a comeback in Season 13 as DS Joe Ashworth when he reunites with Blethyn’s DCI Vera Stanhope.
