Shueisha Games has revealed new details about UN:Me, an upcoming soul-triage adventure that blends psychological horror, mystery and narrative decision-making. The game was showcased with fresh gameplay information during Gamescom 2026, giving players a closer look at its unique premise where they must determine which of four souls inside a young girl is the rightful owner of the body.
Developed by Japanese studio historia Inc., UN:Me places players in an unsettling world where memories have disappeared and every soul believes they are the real person. Instead of traditional combat-focused gameplay, the experience revolves around conversations, exploration and difficult choices as players uncover hidden memories and decide which soul survives.
The game is scheduled to release in 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and Steam. Published by Shueisha Games, UN:Me promises a disturbing journey centered around identity, trauma and the meaning of the “self.”
UN:Me’s Gameplay Focuses on Discovering the True Soul
In UN:Me, players must investigate an unstable world to collect Memory Fragments, which reveal new questions and clues about the four souls trapped inside the girl’s body. Each conversation helps uncover their forgotten histories while slowly revealing who they truly are.
However, the game’s central mystery comes with a painful decision. After learning the truth behind each soul, players must choose one identity to preserve while erasing the others.
The developers describe the experience as a journey where “only one can remain,” making every interaction important as players decide the fate of the characters.
Shueisha Games has introduced details about two of the four souls featured in UN:Me. Soul I is described as highly emotional and direct, speaking exactly what she thinks while displaying dramatic changes in mood. Her personality reflects someone who behaves close to the age she claims to be.
Meanwhile, Soul III is much quieter and more thoughtful. She speaks politely but maintains an emotional distance, rarely making eye contact and often appearing detached from others.
Each soul affects how players experience the game. Their personalities, abilities and traumas can change available actions, exploration routes and the challenges encountered throughout the world.
A Beautiful Yet Disturbing World Filled With Psychological Horror
UN:Me takes place in a strange environment where reality constantly shifts. Players will explore locations such as a mysterious hospital that appears normal at first but becomes increasingly disturbing, featuring unsettling imagery including unnatural nurses and bizarre patients.
The unstable world reflects the fractured minds of the souls living inside the protagonist, creating an atmosphere focused on psychological horror rather than traditional scares.
Shueisha Games has also launched the official UN:Me website, allowing fans to explore newly released information and discuss theories about which soul should be erased.
Gamescom 2026 attendees can experience a playable demo of UN:Me at Hall 10.2, booth E010G-D011G. Journalists and creators can also view additional footage and learn more about the game’s facial motion capture technology.
