Today we’ll be ranking the Pirates of the Worst Generation. As a One Piece fan, I’m quite sure even before you clicked on this article, you already have your own Top 10 Pirates of the Worst Generation in mind, and trust me, the toughest part about a “Top 10” of anything is deciding a basis to arrange them in order (without having the fandom put a virtual gun to your skull, that is) Should it be on the basis of their devil fruit power? Their Physical strength? Their popularity? Screen time and popularity, perhaps?
The list would literally change in every scenario, which is why we’ll go for each of them! In this top 10 list, we’ll be arranging the characters based on Devil fruit power, Physical strength, Character development (Their development before and after The current Wano arc), Bounty amount, their overall “popularity”
Before starting, there will be spoilers, so if you haven’t caught up with the Wano arc, you might get unwanted spoilers.
Honorable Mentions
Yeah, so instead of ranking them all, we made a top 10 list, but we will still talk about the remaining two since we still need to justify why they didn’t make it to our top picks,
Scratchmen Apoo (12th in the Pirates of the Worst Generation)
Apoo is surely one of the most interesting characters making his first appearance in Sabaody arc, covered in Chapter 498 of the manga and Episode 329 of the anime. While his character didn’t exactly do much in the Sabaody arc, his re-appearance in the Wano arc was surely a sight to watch as he fought against Luffy, Zoro, and Killer and was finally taken down by Kid. In the popularity poll, he was ranked the lowest, with half of the people ranking him in either 11th position or 12th. Honestly, he had it coming after betraying Kid!
Other than that, while his Devil fruit Oto Oto no Mi is quite a strong power, it can be countered by covering your ears? Plus, it doesn’t work for a wide range either. Besides, his physical power would be that of potato since I haven’t seen him use his fists even once in the entire series.
- Devil fruit power: 3/10
- Physical strength: 0.5/10
- Character development: 5 /10 (still interesting)
- Bounty: 6/10 (340 million Berries)
- Popularity: Lol
That gives a total of 15 out of 50 (let’s give the popularity a sweet “0.5”)
Urouge (11th in the Pirates of the Worst Generation)
Urouge is mostly known for being the dude who smiles all the time with the sweet Hoby of “lovemaking,” which is not something I made up. Urouge’s true powers were seen when he fought against Charlotte Snack, one of Big Mom’s sweet commanders. While he wasn’t the one who defeated Charlotte Cracker, he still managed to survive and retreat.
He ate a Paramecia-type devil fruit which is currently unnamed. It allows him to convert the damage incurred on him into his physical strength.
- Devil fruit power: 6/10
- Physical strength: 6/10
- Character development: 6 /10
- Bounty: 0.5/10 (108 million Berries)
- Popularity : 0.5/10
- Total: 19/50

Now For Top 10 Pirates of the Worst Generation:
10. Jewelry Bonney
Now, honestly, Bonney is my personal favorite amongst the Pirates of Worst generation, and I kind of expected her to be on a higher rank, but due to her limited screen time and her not being in an actual one on one fight, made it difficult to assume her physical strength. As for her Devil fruit, it is still unnamed, but it’s definitely an interesting power to fool tons of people like she already did a few times. All she really needs is a single touch to defeat the strongest Characters as her devil fruit allows her to alter the age of anyone she touches and herself. Her character has overall been a great mystery.
She has appeared on a number of occasions for a limited amount of time, but whenever she appeared, she made people even more interested and curious in character, As she was asked by Blackbeard to join him, and an even more interesting scene was Akainu Letting her go! I mean, that dude would kill every pirate within his site, but he let her go? Well, I’m sure they’ll soon show her story, and maybe then we can rank her even further on this list!
- Devil fruit power: 7/10
- Physical strength: 2/10
- Character development: 8/10
- Bounty: 1/10 (140 million Berries)
- Popularity: 2/10
- Total: 20/50
9. Killer
Killer is a part of Eustass Kid’s crew with a 100% Badass character design. His character development was more or less sad? Like sure, he got stronger, but he also suffered a lot. His appearance in the Wano arc was one of the most shocking things I’ve ever seen. Since he is one of the two Characters of worst generation pirates who haven’t eaten a devil fruit, he’ll be at a slight disadvantage in our Ranking.
Killer has proved to be the most dependable crew member but also got overshadowed by Kid, which again worked against him in this ranking of ours. Still, he is getting more screen time in the Wano arc, and I hope it keeps increasing cause his fight scenes really are enjoyable.
- Devil fruit power: 0/10
- Physical strength: 7/10
- Character development: 8 /10
- Bounty: 2/10 (200 million Berries)
- Popularity: 5/10
- Total: 22/50

8. Basil Hawkins
Hawkins has been an intriguing character since his very first appearance on Sabaody Island. His devil fruit not only allows him to Predict Future possibilities but also summon a huge scarecrow type of thingy, not sure. Besides, he can also use his devil fruit powers to protect himself from any physical attacks as it’ll harm the people who get a Straw doll in their clothes or just have it on their bodies. So a pretty convenient Df in the offense as well as defense. He is currently getting a lot of Screen Time in the Wano arc, although he too has quite a villainous personality as he betrayed Kid and became Kaido’s underling. Overall my personal thought would be that he fits the 8th rank for now.
- Devil fruit power: 8/10
- Physical strength: 3/10
- Character development: 6 /10
- Bounty: 5/10 (320 million berries)
- Popularity: 1/10
- Total: 23/50
7. Capone Bege
A mafia boss who turned into a pirate? Yeah, sign me up! Bege has been the type of character who seems to be villainous at first but ends up being on the “good” side? He appeared in Sabaody island as well but left a lasting impression in the Whole Cake Island arc, where he sort of plans a heist along with Luffy. His Devil fruit Shiro Shiro no Mi literally turns him into a miniature fortress. His entire body is equipped with tons of cannons, plus he has some sort of dimension inside his body that resembles a castle, quite a convenient power for sure. He hasn’t appeared in the Wano arc, unfortunately, but his screen time in the Whole Cake Island arc was definitely enough to give him a huge fanbase!
- Devil fruit power: 6/10
- Physical strength: 4/10
- Character development: 7 /10
- Bounty: 4/10 (300 million Berries)
- Popularity: 3/10
- Total: 24/50

6. X Drake
First of all, Dope name! Why didn’t Oda think of something similar for Luffy’s first name? Anyway, Drake had quite a sad past as he respected his father Diez Barrels, with all his heart while his father was quite a bully, and so when he couldn’t take it anymore, he left his family with no regrets. He gained a fanbase when he was featured in the Wano arc as one of Kaido’s crew members. He ate the Ryu Ryu no Mi (Allosaurus Model), which is an Ancient Zoan-type Devil Fruit that enables him to transform into an allosaurus at full length as well as a half allosaurus hybrid, at his will.
- Devil fruit power: 7/10
- Physical strength: 5/10
- Character development: 6 /10
- Bounty: 3/10 (222 million berries)
- Popularity: 4/10
- Total: 25/50
5. Roronoa Zoro
Everybody who was expecting him to be in the top 3, I’m very sorry, but since he doesn’t have a devil fruit, he’ll stick to the fifth in this list for now. Zoro has literally been one of the most popular characters in the entire series. Even though he doesn’t have devil fruit’s power, he makes up for it by his physical strength as well as Conqueror Haki. And honestly, I could see his whole character development right when he said, “I will never lose again”. He might as well be one of the characters with the most well-written character development in the history of anime.
- Devil fruit power: 0/10
- Physical strength: 10/10
- Character development: 10 /10
- Bounty: 5/10 (320 million Berries)
- Popularity: 9/10
- Total: 34/50

4. Eustass kid
In my opinion, Kid is more like a twisted version of Luffy and definitely deserves to be in the top five of our Top 10 Pirates of Worst generation. He first appeared in the Sabaody arc, then again when he fought against Shanks and LIVED? Then got imprisoned by Kaido. Currently, in the Wano arc, he’s seen determined to kill Kaido and take his revenge. Eustass Kid is said to be a holder of Conqueror Haki as well, even though there aren’t many instances where he is seen using it. As for His Devil fruit, he ate Jiki Jiki no Mi, which is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that enables him to manipulate magnetic forces.
- Devil fruit power: 8/10
- Physical strength: 5/10
- Character development: 8 /10
- Bounty: 7/10 (470 million berries)
- Popularity: 7/10
- Total: 35/50
Top 3 Pirates Of The Worst Generation
(Devoted to the Will of D.)
3. Marshall D. Teach
Or as we know him, Lord Blackbeard. He is more suitable to be in the old generation, but well, he’s still one of the Pirates of the Worst Generation. He is one of my favorite characters so far, and I know there are people who hate him but come on, he is the definition of your typical pirate, all that + a holder of 2 or perhaps 3 devil fruits! And he is the only one to even have the capacity to hold more than one devil fruit which makes him even more awesome. However, if we do keep the Devil fruits aside, he is a fragile fat flower, which makes his Physical Strength comparatively low.
Firstly he ate Yami Yami no Mi, which allows the user to control darkness at will. He stole this Devil fruit from Commander Thatch, who was a part of the Whitebeard Pirate’s crew member. He ate his second devil fruit, Gura Gura no Mi, which causes and controls vibrations, and it is powerful enough to cause an earthquake and has the potential to end ZA WARUDO! That he more or less “took” From Whitebeard.
- Devil fruit power: 10/10 (since giving it a 20 wouldn’t be fair)
- Physical strength: 4/10
- Character development: 7/10
- Bounty: 10/10 (300 million berries)
- Popularity: 6/10
- Total: 37/50

2. Trafalgar D. Water Law
The Man who gained a fanbase the second he appeared on the screen. Law has one of the best character designs as well as character development which validates him to be in the Top 3. He ate Ope Ope no Mi, which is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to create a wide-ranging space (i.e., “room”) inside which the user has full control over everything! It’s also a power that helps the user in understanding and implementing Medical advances. The only flaw of his devil fruit is the Time issue, as it can’t be used indefinitely.
- Devil fruit power: 10/10
- Physical strength: 5/10
- Character development: 8 /10
- Bounty: 8/10 ( 300 million )
- Popularity: 8/10
- Total: 38/50
1. Monkey D. Luffy
Who else deserves the place more than the boss himself to make it on the top of our Pirates of Worst generation?! There isn’t much I can say about Luffy since you all know everything yourself. Now, if we just forget about his Conqueror’s Haki and talk about his Devil fruit, Gomu Gomu no Mi, it gives his body all the properties of a Rubber, which honestly sounded bogus to me in the beginning, I had no idea there was a “rubber person” could be so powerful. And while the devil fruit itself isn’t exactly that impressive, Luffy made it an over-glorifying power with his mental as well as physical strength. I have tons of comments for him, but I’ll leave that for another time.
- Devil fruit power: 7/10
- Physical strength: 9/10
- Character development: 9 /10
- Bounty: 2/10 (1.5 billion berries)
- Popularity: 10/10
- Total: 43/50
I hope this list was something you could agree to. I think it’ll change after the Wano arc as we’ll get to know even more about all the characters mentioned.
