Sarah Streicher’s drama series called The Wilds is an American series that was released back in 2020. It follows the story of a few tortured survivors of a plane crash stuck on an unknown island, but as it turns out, there is more to the crash than they know. Launched on Prime Video, the show The Wilds has actress Sophia Ali, Shannon Berry, Jenna Clause, Reign Edwards, Helena Howard, Erana James, Sarah Pidgeon, David Sullivan, and many others in different roles in the show.
The first season of this exciting series, out in 2020, received great reactions from fans and critics who loved the fact that the show had female survivors stuck on an island without any help from outside, without even knowing that all that they were put through was a big social experiment being done on them.
Riding on the success of the first season, the makers of the show released another season, but the possibility of a third season was thrown out of the window when news of the show being permanently canceled was released sometime in 2022.
The first season has just girls trying to survive the crash, and the second just has boys, though the plot of both seasons gets intertwined as the story progresses further. The makers take a dive into the complex lives of the girls and the boys, and it is so amazingly done.
The show is ridiculously addictive, with the young cast immersing themselves completely in their characters and pulling them very realistically.

The Wilds Filming Locations
Auckland, New Zealand
A significant portion of this thrilling series, The Wilds, has been shot in Auckland, New Zealand. The filming began in 2019 for the first season and in 2021 for the second season. The country of New Zealand is beautiful overall and has a lot to offer to directors who can find inspiration in the country easily.
The shooting for this specific show was done in the most populous city of New Zealand, a place called Auckland. Part of the filming was done at South Pacific Pictures located at 8 Tolich Place, Henderson. The show, The Wilds, also shares one of its filming locations with the 1990 Commonwealth Games that took place in the country.
The city of Auckland also has a fair share of beautiful black-sand beaches, and some of them are even featured on the show. A few of these beaches that were made use of in the show include Muriwai Beach, Piha Beach, and Karioitahi Beach.
Apart from the main Auckland area, a suburban region near the west of Auckland was also used and featured in the show. This was a town surrounded by the Waitakere Ranges and is named Swanson. A few scenes for the show were also shot at the West Wave Pool situated at 20 Alderman Drive, near Henderson.
The West Wave Pool area was the same one used during the 1990 Commonwealth Games held nearby. As amazing as the beaches may have looked, according to the actors, it was not all that fun during shooting. As it turns out, the place had unpredictable weather, and they were able to experience all kinds of weather in just one day.
Since the beaches were not that kind to the girls, the filming for the second season took the boys to Australia, especially to Queensland, which must have been a whole other ride.
That the filming for the second season would be in Australia was announced by the Premiere of Queensland, Annastacia Palaszczuk, and Paul Fletcher, the Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts.
Allowing such a successful show to shoot in their country and for it to be out on a global platform was not done out of necessity but more to add another popular show to the country’s list of successful movies and television series shot there.
