Prime Video is bringing back The Wheel of Time, and this time, the challenges are even greater. Season 2 ended with Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) being declared the Dragon Reborn, but his struggles are far from over. Dangerous enemies, including powerful Forsaken, are now free.
Rand and his friends must face these dangers as they try to survive. Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike) has regained her abilities after believing she had lost them. However, her strength alone may not be enough.
The latest trailer for Season 3 shows just how difficult the road ahead will be. This season will follow The Shadow Rising, the fourth book in Robert Jordan’s series, while also including parts of The Fires of Heaven, the fifth book. The trailer does not reveal everything, but it suggests that the upcoming season will be intense. The new season will premiere on March 13.
The White Tower Falls into Chaos
The trailer opens with a major conflict among the Aes Sedai. In previous seasons, disagreements among them were common, but Season 2 revealed an even greater problem—the existence of the Black Ajah. This secret group consists of Darkfriends who work against the White Tower. Now, open conflict has begun, causing a deep division among the Aes Sedai.
Two powerful figures stand against each other in this battle. Siuan Sanche (Sophie Okonedo), the Amyrlin Seat, finds herself against Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood), who was revealed as a member of the Black Ajah in Season 2.
The trailer shows Siuan using the One Power to restrain Liandrin before everything turns violent. Alanna (Priyanka Bose) and her Warders are also seen fighting in Tar Valon.
Moiraine reminds everyone of the importance of this internal war. She warns, “If the White Tower does not bend the knee to Rand al’Thor, he will lose the Last Battle.” The White Tower’s division allows evil forces to strike.
Rand Is Not the Only Target
Rand’s identity as the Dragon Reborn puts him in grave danger, but he is not the only hunted. Moiraine’s Warder, Lan (Daniel Henney), warns in the trailer, “They won’t just come for Rand. They’ll come for all of us.” This statement proves true as several characters find themselves in life-threatening situations.
Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) is seen in the middle of a fierce battle against monstrous trollocs. The danger is overwhelming, but the trailer also provides a brief moment of relief. Rand, Perrin, and Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn) are shown laughing together.
Their childhood friendship remains strong despite the chaos around them. Season 2 ended with the five friends—Rand, Perrin, Mat, Nynaeve al’Meara (Zoë Robins), and Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden)—reuniting, but they had little time to enjoy it. The trailer suggests they will have a chance to share a peaceful moment.
Still, their enemies continue to grow stronger. In Season 2, Rand and his allies managed to defeat Ishamael (Fares Fares), one of the Forsaken. However, others remain. Lanfear (Natasha O’Keeffe) tricked Rand before, and in the trailer, she seems to be manipulating him again.
It is unclear whether she appears in the real world or in Tel’aran’rhiod, the world of dreams. Since she has a deep connection to Rand’s past life, she remains a serious threat.
The Forsaken are not finished. The trailer also shows Moghedien (Laia Costa) interacting with Nynaeve. She does not need words to be terrifying—her quiet laughter alone is chilling. With enemies like these, the stakes continue to rise.

Rand’s Journey Takes Him to the Aiel Waste
Season 2 introduced the Aiel, a group of fierce warriors who live in the harsh desert called the Waste. The new trailer confirms that Rand and Moiraine will travel through this unforgiving land. As they move forward, they are surrounded by the Aiel, marking a significant part of Rand’s journey.
The phrase “Each step forward is a step backward through time” appears in the trailer. This suggests that Rand will reach the legendary city of Rhuidean. Season 2 briefly mentioned the title Car’a’carn, which means “chief of chiefs” in the Old Tongue. The trailer confirms that the Aiel believe Rand is the Car’a’carn.
Rand is already recognized as the Dragon Reborn, but this new title gives him another great responsibility. His time with the Aiel will allow both him and the audience to learn more about their culture.
Moiraine and Rand Share a Dark Fate
Rand and Moiraine are central to the story, and the trailer hints that their destinies are linked in an unusual way. They are seen floating inside a structure made of three rings, possibly in Rhuidean. Later, Moiraine shares a grim vision with Lan. She says, “In every future where I lived, Rand dies. And the only way he lives is if I don’t.”
The trailer shows haunting images of their possible fates. One moment shows Moiraine in Lan’s arms, possibly injured or worse. Another shows Rand accepting his identity as the Dragon Reborn. The story suggests that either Rand or Moiraine may not survive the battles ahead.
New Characters and Ongoing Relationships
The trailer also highlights personal relationships among the characters. Nynaeve and Lan share a kiss, confirming their growing connection. Rand and Egwene once loved each other, but their paths have changed. The trailer shows a heartbreaking exchange between them, suggesting Rand’s feelings now lie elsewhere.
He is seen kissing Lanfear, but he also shares an important moment with Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney). Their connection was hinted at in the Season 2 finale, and the new season may develop it further.
New characters will also play a role in the story. Queen Morgase (Olivia Williams) appears in the trailer, along with her sons Galad (Callum Kerr) and Gawyn (Luke Fetherston). Elaida (Shohreh Aghdashloo), an Aes Sedai, also makes an appearance. Faile (Isabella Bucceri), a Hunter of the Horn, and Bair (Nukâka Coster-Waldau), one of the Aiel Wise Ones, are also introduced.
Their presence suggests they will influence the events of the season. Though the trailer is only two and a half minutes long, it shows the many twists ahead.
The Adventure Continues
The Wheel of Time continues to expand its story, bringing deeper conflicts and new challenges for its heroes. The battle between light and darkness grows more intense, and each character must find their place in this war.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Wheel of Time are available for streaming on Prime Video in the U.S. Season 3 will premiere on March 13, promising new battles, alliances, and mysteries to uncover.
