The best voices in the nation are invited to compete in the latest season of the four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series “The Voice,” which debuted on NBC on February 26 at 8 PM PT/ET.
Five stages of competition comprise the show’s unique format: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs, and Live Performance Shows. “I was on ‘The Voice’ previously!” The blind auditions continued in episode 4. William Alexander and Alyssa Crosby joined Team Reba.
Bri Fletcher and Rletto joined Team Chance. Anya True joined Team Dan + Shay. Mafe had joined Team Legend. Let’s keep the blinds going! Rather than diving straight into the audition process, the coaches got together for a unique rendition of “Put a Little Love in Your Heart,” supported by a choir encircling them.
Recap
After that, John and Reba gave 28-year-old Ronnie Wilson a chair turn for his initial audition, which included the song “Pillowtalk.” He made it clear to the coaches that country and gospel music have a big influence on him, paving the way for a fair contest between the two.
Reba informed him that people enjoy hearing his voice and that she wanted to support him in “embellishing not changing.” John praised his “new taste” and expressed how much he enjoyed the moments he produced by “being creative with the melody.”
This time, Ronnie’s selection to join Team Legend as the newest member was made quickly. Chance and John were waiting for the proper performer to turn their blocks into a successful play.
During her audition, Zoe Levert from New Orleans chose “Better Man,” but in the last moments of her performance, John was the only coach to turn, so no block was required. She had hoped that Dan and Shay would change, but even so, they were gracious enough to go on stage and sing their song for Zoe and her fiancé.
John praised her “clean” tone and suggested that they listen to songs that keep her voice in the higher range, as that’s where he found her voice to be most appealing. Next was country music performer Ducote Talmage, whose song “Sand in My Boots” simultaneously became a hit song for John and Dan + Shay.
John complimented him on the “small scratch” in his voice and assured him that his ability to choose quality songs and stage strong performances would make him an excellent instructor. He joined his team as a challenge to be a “renegade.”
John wouldn’t be a good coach for a country music artist, according to Shay, who also assured that since they don’t currently have an artist like him on the squad, he is the one they need. Dan continued, “His voice is powerful.”
Chance and Reba both claimed there were “pitch problems” the entire time, which is why they didn’t turn, although they did give him advise.
