The Ultimate Fighter Season 31 Episode 8 release date is here, and we are excited to reveal everything about the show before the new episode drops. But before we reveal the shocking details, here is a quick and detailed recap of the recent episode for those who missed it.
In the recent episode, we saw how, together, Kurt Holobaugh and Roosevelt Roberts discuss their professional situations and the approach they will take to this challenge presented in episode 7.
Both men concur that the worst that could have happened has already occurred, and they are now truly enthusiastic about what is yet to come. According to Holobaugh, who made his professional debut in 2011, he eventually faced Pat Healy at the final Strikeforce event and performed well, earning a contract to compete in the UFC.
Because of the pranks, several of Team Chandler’s combatants feel that Kurt Holobaugh’s victory over Lee Hammond was unfairly diminished. Later McGregor arrives at the APEX center in his borrowed Lamborghini, but instead of parking it, he just stops and exits at the door.
Recap
After receiving complaints about his frequent disappearances for several weeks, “Notorious” is now there to practice with his team. I suppose it’s better late than never. He spars with Landon Quinones Stewart, who will take on Jason Knight of Team Chandler and try to give Team McGregor its first victory of the year.
Stewart is knocked out with a liver kick from McGregor, who then jokingly urges him to “fight through it.” Knight (23-7) believes Team McGregor completely lost its confidence and anticipates that the semifinals will only feature veterans under Chandler’s coaching.
Late in 2015, “The Kid” joined the UFC and stepped in at the last minute to take on Tatsuya Kawajiri. Prior to being released in late 2018, Knight lost a decision but then reeled off four straight victories, followed by four straight losses.
He got recalled for TUF 31 thanks to a 3-1 record on the regional circuit. He is referred to by Chandler as the “scariest” veteran on the TUF lightweight roster, and Chandler predicts that “panic will set in,” which it did, but not during the fight.
A careless headbutt to the Knight tears him open. Knight is warned by the doctor to keep it away from contact after the doctor glues it shut; otherwise, it will need to be patched.
The fight is still going on. The bad news is that Cody Gibson of Team Chandler tore his Grade 2 MCL and will have to fight while wounded in the playoffs. Here’s where we stand after the recent episode:
- Team McGregor: 155 lbs.: Lee Hammond (No. 1), 155 lbs.: Nate Jennerman (No. 2).,
135 lbs.: Mando Gutierrez (No. 1), and 135 lbs.: Trevor Wells (No. 2). - Team Chandler: 155 lbs.: Jason Knight (No. 1), 155 lbs.: Austin Hubbard (No. 2), and
155 lbs.: Roosevelt Roberts (No. 3).
What will happen in Ultimate Fighter Season 31 Episode 8?
Just one more fight remains for Team McGregor to avert a loss. July 18 will see Rico DiSciullo defeat Team Chandler bantamweight Hunter Azure.
