“The Simpsons” is back with yet another season. The animated sitcom series is returning with your favorite characters after a short wait. The Gracie Films and 20th Television production has grown to be one of the most popular animated satire series. It premiered for the first time on 17th December 1989 and has been released in about 33 seasons till now.
The 33rd and 34th seasons were renewed together on 3rd March 2021 and are decided to have only 22 episodes each. Season 33 released its first episode on 26th September 2021 and continued till this year on the 22nd of May. After a small break, the series is confirmed to be returning on television later this month.
With its numerous awards and praises, the television series is highly anticipated among its fans. With the amount of Simpsons memes going around, it’s not hard to tell that the series is well-loved even today. Despite the criticisms, it has received about 35 Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, and 34 Annie Awards. The series also received a star on the 2000 Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Meet The Simpsons Voice Actors
The animated series is set up in a fictional town called Springfield with the Simpsons family. The family includes Homer as the father and Marge Bouvier as the mother. Their three children are Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. Among the three, Bart is the eldest of all and also the most chaotic. He is the troublemaker of the household. The middle child Lisa is an eight-year-old who found joy in activism at a very young age. Maggie is the youngest of all.
Though the Simpsons family is seemingly normal, but as the viewers are guided throughout the series, it is clear that their family is pretty dysfunctional. The character of the mother, Marge is shown as the typical American housewife who is full of stereotypes.
The main voice actors were Julie Kavner, who voiced Marge, and Dan Castellaneta, who voiced Homer Simpson. Their children are voiced by Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart, and Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa. The other voice actors include Hank Azaria, Harry Shearer, and others. The voice actor of Bart Simpsons, Cartwright also voices other characters like Nelson Muntz and Ralph Wiggum.
The Simpsons Controversies
Even the well-loved Simpsons family was not away from controversies. There were many behaviors of the characters that were deemed problematic by the viewers. For example, despite Bart’s troublemaker title, he was seldom punished by his parents. Though it is a satirical series, some parents are furious about such representation.
The controversies were present even in the vacation episodes as well when the Simpsons visited Australia and Brazil. The viewers took personal offense on how they related the visited places with serious crimes like kidnapping and theft. As a result of these criticisms, The Simpsons was even banned from some countries.
Dated back to 2006, China banned the series in August of the year. Many Pentecostal churches in Russia also demanded the show be banned, which was later dismissed by the court. Another reason behind the criticisms was the decline in quality which many viewers agreed in unison.
