Jack Burditt’s Christmas comedy titled The Santa Clauses is back with yet another half-decent season. Inspired by the The Santa Clause film franchise, this show is a fanservice for fans who wanted more after the 2006 film The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause.
The show follows the story of old Santa Claus, Scott Calvin, who has just turned sixty-five. And with this new age has come one more thing: a realization that he needs to find a replacement for his job.
Knowing he cannot be our beloved Santa forever, Scott goes on a quest to find a new Santa who could take over his job of pleasing elves, families, and lovely children, all while letting him take his own family into the normal world to find a new life at the south pole.
The show stars actor Tim Allen in the leading role of Santa, or Scott Calvin, alongside Elizabeth Mitchell as Carol Calvin, Santa’s wife, Austin Kane as Cal Calvin Claus, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus, Devin Bright as Noel, and Matilda Lawler as Betty.
There have been some new additions to the new second season of the show as well, including Eric Stonestreet as Magnus Antas and comedian and actor Gabriel Iglesias as Kris Kringle. All of the cast members will be thoroughly involved in the show as Santa will run into trouble while finding his perfect heir.
The comedy series manages to keep up the cozy holiday vibes, but if one were to judge the show on its comedic timing and the script, one would realize that this show does not even hold a candle to the original movies.
The show feels bland, and the visual holiday aesthetics can do only so much. The series is a half-hearted attempt at recreating a holiday classic, but it seems that the magic that the movies had is lost on the show.
While the jokes may not land, the show might still be able to provide you with a hint of nostalgia. The Santa Clauses is back with another season, and here is all you need to know about the upcoming episode.
If you thought the previous season had thrown series troubles in Santa’s way, then you need to get a look at the plot of the new season. The producers have brought in Eric Stonestreet to play the character of The Mad Santa.
The Mad Santa is convinced that he is the actual Santa and decides to question the authenticity of Scott Calvin’s version of Santa. It turns out Scott was in the middle of training his son, Cal, to take over his job, and the appearance of The Mad Santa is a challenge they were not prepared for.
The season will explore this clash between the two Santas while Cal continues his training under his father. Join this new adventure the second season has embarked upon to find out who will end up becoming the new Santa and how Christmas will be saved this year.
