Tyler Perry produced and directed a political drama series called The Oval, which has been airing on our screens since 2019. The show is a story about all that goes down behind the doors in the White House, giving fans a glimpse into how Perry thinks the President and the First Lady exist in power.
Starring Ed Quinn, Kron Moore, Paige Hurd, Daniel Croix Henderson, Javon Johnson, Ptosha Storey, and many others, the show has managed to create an intense storyline about the dirty and secretive lives that the so-called elites of America live.
Not just this, we also get to witness the world through the eyes of the staff and workers who are part of the intricate hierarchical structure of the White House. The Oval is currently airing its fifth season, and the plot continues to get more and more twisted.
Tyler Perry, who also takes home a heavy portion of the writing credit home, continues to try to make the show seem impactful and almost badass, but there’s a spark missing. Be it the poor script writing, directionless plot, and an overall lack of a high budget, the show is lacking a lot.
While for many, the show is predictable in terms of plot and characters, some manage to find pure entertainment in it as well. The show started great and showed extreme potential with its story, but with the new seasons, it has become pretty clear that all The Oval can offer to viewers is its gradual progression from bad to worse and some drama.
The first episode of the new fifth season of the show aired on October 17th, 2023, and a new episode is about to drop soon, so here’s all you need to know about it.
Recap & Spoilers
The new season brought into the White House a new family with some more twisted values. We witnessed the previous President overdosing, leading to a new one replacing him. Vice President Eli finds himself taking over the empty position, and he is already drunk on power.
The show has dialed its drama level to eleven as it seems everybody’s character just seems to be going through something life-impacting. In the previous episode, the fifth one titled ‘Something To Hide,’ Jason realized that there was no way he could hide anymore.
Parallelly, Hunter and Victoria’s twisted relationship further gets twisted as the former finds Victoria in a questionable position. And finally, Dale, while helping out Allen, is also hit with a realization that something bigger might be at play and that the two might have gotten involved in a bigger scheme of things.
The ninth episode of the show titled, ‘Better Than Revenge,’ will have Hunter crazy in his eyes as he has decided to go on a revenge spree.
Sam and Max also do not wish for the First Family to thrive, which means that the two will be throwing troubles their way. And Jason Franklin, son of Hunter and Victoria, is also all prepped up to put his revenge plan into action.
