The 2017 South Korean blockbuster and critically acclaimed ‘The Outlaws’ is getting its much-awaited Part 2. It is called The Roundup or The Outlaws 2. The trailer was released a few days back to garner a great audience response. The film looks double-action-packed than its predecessor. To peak up the curiosity, the team has released character posters for the Outlaws 2.
The first film was based on true incidents, also called “Heuksapa Incident”. A war had broken out between two notorious gangs. The police had to intervene to retain peace, and the film took inspiration from this incident. The popular Train to Busan fame actor Ma Doeng Seok played the role of Ma Seok Do, the tough cop. He is the quintessential tough guy who beats up the baddies and makes them pay.
This chapter will be about tracking a new villain who is committing violent crimes in Vietnam. The relentless Seok Do will go to new lengths to maintain peace and order. The movie is promising to be even more intense than the first one. The new character posters which are released reveal the return of many characters from the previous outing. Moreover, we will see some very familiar faces making a debut in this series.
‘The Outlaws 2 Reveals Character Posters
First off, we have our leading man Ma Seok Do played by Ma Dong Seok. Ma Dong Seok just has a personality that really makes us believe he can indeed beat the daylight out of bad guys. His poster just radiates a ferocious aura. The caption on his poster translates to “irreplaceable monster detective Ma Seok Do”. It doesn’t get any more true than this!
Next, we have our daunting villain, Kang Hae Sang, played by Son Seok Koo. He looks menacing in the poster, and the teaser has already given us an idea of how ruthless this character is. He looks chilling, and it’ll be interesting to see Son Seok Koo in such a grey role. The text on the poster says, “the strongest villain ever”. Oh boy, we are not denying that and can’t wait to watch the war unfold.
Coming up next in The Outlaws character posters is the returning character Captain Jeon Il Man. Choi Gwi Ha is back to reprise his role as the leader of the violent crimes squad. His poster says his character is “who never has a peaceful day”. It makes a lot of sense, given the nature of his job.
Along with him, we also have Detective Oh Dong Gyoon, “the eldest detective with a good hunch,” played by Heo Dong Won. Being the eldest detective out of the lot would be one with a lot of responsibilities—especially when dealing with outlaws.
Next, we have the “brains of the team,” Kang Hong Suk, played by actor Ha Jun. He was the youngest on the team in the first film, but his character looks much more mature and responsible now.
Going ahead, on The Outlaws character poster, it is Park Ji Hwan, playing the role of Jang Yi Soo. He was portrayed as a gang leader initially, but this movie will follow his transition to become a good man “dreaming of a new life”. Well, it’ll be interesting to watch this character transformation, if it’s genuine or just a facade.
Last but not least, we have newbie Jung Kae Hwang (last seen in Nevertheless). He will play the role of Detective Kim Sang Hoon, who is a newbie to the team too. Nonetheless, he is a “rookie detective who is full of spirit,” as his poster explains.
