The final two episodes of The Girl Downstairs, a Chinese Anime distributed by Rakuten Viki, are almost here, and with them comes the conclusion of a budding romance between a total nerd with social anxiety and a former and very well-known pop star who lives next door to each other.
Across the debut season, we’ve seen how these two managed to find a place in their hearts for one another despite the difficulties of coming from different backgrounds, having different perceptions of what love and courtship are, and dealing with student life, peer pressure, bullying, and the boredom of every day. With the final episode right around the corner, the question is: Is Yuan getting the girl, or is she going to turn her back?
The Girl Downstairs Episode 21 Recap
Yuan’s advances are working; ahead of the final episode, Shiya is beginning to come to terms with her true feelings towards Yuan despite the peer pressure of her entourage to look the other way. For starters, Shiya is a pop star, and the other man is simply a student who, luckily, stepped into her life because they’re next-door neighbors.
Since Yuan is asking her out, and she is expressing her true feelings, what started as a hallway conversation blossomed into love, the many ups and downs of this cat-and-mouse romance game are starting to flourish, and in the end, the nerd might actually get the girl, in direct contravention of the aphorism that states that nice guys finish last.
