While one of the season 5 guest stars was not reintroduced until the second episode of The Conners season 6, the new character in the Roseanne spinoff is almost family. The Conner family’s luck has changed recently, although they weren’t particularly fortunate in love during Roseanne’s initial run in the 1990s.
After Roseanne was killed off following the sitcom’s tenth-season revival in 2017, the series changed its name to The Conners. Since then, the supporting cast members have been in a series of remarkably happy and healthy relationships. The fourth season finale included Aunt Jackie’s marriage.
The Conners’ good fortune in the romance field appears to be continuing strong in season 6, despite the possibility that it will cease in season 7. In addition to Darlene’s marriage to Ben, her erratic sister Becky is currently involved in a potential new romance.
The first scene of season 6, episode 2, “Valentine’s Day Treats and Credit Card Cheats,” featured the Conners playing poker with Sean Astin’s character Tyler, who had been introduced in season 5. The couple is committed, even though Tyler hasn’t been mentioned since then.
In Season 6 of The Conners, Becky told Tyler that they might get married
In “Valentine’s Day Treats and Credit Card Cheats,” Becky makes lighthearted remarks about getting married to Tyler later on. Even though this sounded like a casual remark, Astin’s character appeared shocked to learn of it and questioned Becky about the possibility of making such a significant commitment.
Good news for their future, she indicated that it was possible right away. It’s wonderful to hear that Becky is ready to wed Tyler because, more than any other Conners character, she has a history of being erratic and unlucky in love. Becky would therefore greatly benefit from some consistency.
Although Becky’s drinking problem and the poor choices she made, as a result, can be blamed for some of her love difficulties, many of the catastrophes that befell her were beyond her control. Shortly before Emilio, the baby’s father was deported, she suddenly fell pregnant after a one-night encounter.
It makes sense that even though Emilio went back to Lanford, their relationship failed. Before then, Mark Healy, Becky’s first romantic interest in Roseanne, passed away in a motorcycle accident off-screen.
The real-life death of actor Glen Quinn, who portrayed Healy in the popular sitcom’s original ’90s run, prompted the Roseanne resurrection. Shortly after the start of The Conners season 6, whereby Harris’s meaningless character arc was resolved, there appeared to be a chance that Becky might find an equally simple solution to her relationship problems with “Valentine’s Day Treats and Credit Card Cheats.”
But before Tyler and Becky could walk down the aisle together, it was quickly apparent that they had a great deal of work ahead of them. To win Beverly-Rose over and irritate Becky, Tyler offers her a bribe, demonstrating that the two may still ruin their relationship in the upcoming episodes.
Fortunately, Tyler expressed regret and Becky was understanding. Although there have been less significant breakups in The Conners, the fact that Becky is dedicated to growing up and has studied psychology in college for years is encouraging for her and Tyler.
Even the most sarcastic and cynical characters can find happiness, as demonstrated by the fact that The Conners’s heroine Darlene, for years, deliberately destroyed her own romantic life to pursue a successful marriage with Ben.
There is no reason why Becky and Tyler can’t work things out because she is not nearly as resentful as Darlene or as wacky as Jackie.
