The Blood of Dawnwalker is emerging as one of 2026’s strongest new single-player games, with the Rebel Wolves RPG generating $30.6 million on Steam from more than 535,000 copies sold since its September launch. The figures are particularly notable because Dawnwalker is a completely new IP rather than an established franchise, showing that original single-player games can still attract a large audience in an increasingly sequel-driven market.

According to Alinea Analytics, Dawnwalker generated $26.9 million in Steam revenue during September alone. The game launched on September 2 on Steam, while its wider release arrived across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 3. The Steam version is currently listed as a dark fantasy open-world action RPG developed by Rebel Wolves and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment.

Dawnwalker’s Steam Performance Makes Its New IP Status Significant

The $30.6 million Steam revenue is especially impressive considering that Dawnwalker represents the debut game from Rebel Wolves. The studio was founded by veterans of CD Projekt Red, including developers who previously worked on The Witcher series, giving the game considerable RPG pedigree without relying on an existing franchise.

The game’s commercial momentum was also visible almost immediately after launch. Rebel Wolves confirmed that The Blood of Dawnwalker surpassed 1 million copies sold worldwide within just a few days, making the milestone particularly significant for a brand-new IP from a newly established studio.

The game is set in an alternate 14th-century Europe and follows Coen, a young man transformed into a Dawnwalker who exists between humanity and vampirism. Players explore Vale Sangora while attempting to save Coen’s family, with the story and gameplay shaped by their choices. Bandai Namco describes it as a single-player open-world dark fantasy RPG built around the contrast between Coen’s human and vampiric abilities.

PS5 Is Generating More Revenue Despite Steam Leading in Copies

Interestingly, Steam is not Dawnwalker’s highest-grossing platform despite leading in copies sold. Alinea Analytics estimates that the PS5 version has generated more than $40 million in revenue, putting it ahead of Steam despite the PC platform having sold more than 535,000 copies.

Regional pricing and the stronger presence of players in higher-priced markets help explain the difference. Poland has also emerged as an important market for the game, ranking second on Steam and third on PlayStation according to Alinea’s September data.

Dawnwalker’s performance therefore gives Rebel Wolves more than just a strong launch. With $30.6 million in Steam revenue, 535,000-plus Steam copies sold and more than 1 million copies sold worldwide, the game has delivered one of the clearest examples this year of a new single-player IP successfully competing alongside established franchises.
